Universal Closing In On Deals With Original KICK-ASS Cast; Nicolas Cage In Talks To Cameo

Jeff Wadlow has already signed on to write and direct Kick-Ass 2, and with shooting set to begin later this year, the pressure is on to get the cast in place. Here is an update on where deals currently stand (including details on the surprising return of Nicolas Cage).

Deadline reports that despite rumblings of Aaron Johnson (and other cast members) NOT returning for the sequel to Matthew Vaughn's 2010 movie, he and co-stars Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are now likely to return as Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl and Red Mist/The Mother [frick]er respectively. Universal has run into problems because none of them had sequel options, resulting in new deals having to be negotiated. The site confirms that all are very near to finalising a deal with the studio, while Nicolas Cage is in talks to make a cameo appearance. Other big names are also being lined up for starring roles in the highly anticipated adaptation of the Mark Millar/John Romita Jr. comic book.

How bad ass would it be if big-daddy never died and he was actually stalking kink ass and hit girl in the shadows studying their progress in the superhero game.

@JackDexx - Actually, he should have a cameo in the second one because he's still a flashback character in the second book.

The first one was surprising VERY well done and had a fantastic story (I'd never read the comic until AFTER seeing it at the theater first)and to whomever wished that Dave fought better and maybe bulked up a bit? Isn't that kinda the point behind this? That they're just ordinary teenagers who decided to say "[frick] it. I'm going to live my dream and become a superhero and beat up bad guys"? And what the "real world" implications of actually DOING that would mean? As far as i'm concerned, if he does get bigger and learns to fight better, kinda kills the appeal and the fun!

Just my opinion : )

@SpideyShouldBeInAvengers Dude stop spamming your f***in videos. We know you're doing it just to get views on your channel. You've made several articles before on here to promote your channel, and each time they've been taken down. Stop

Besides...who would make an account just to say Spidey should be in Avengers?

Failure to the nth degree

I wish it was Matthew Vaughn directing and they would just delay this until he was done with Xmen first class 2. During that time perfect the script rather than have the cry wolf director go right into it

I don't care if it's a flashback or he didn't really doe, as long as it's not a lame, "ghost/memory of him talking to someone" a-la Willemstad DeFoe in Spiderman 2 & 3... I freaking hate those!!!... and they're lame...

I'll be so depressed if it's not as good as the first one :/. And for a second I thought, "Nicolas Cage is cameoing? Well of course, why wouldn't his character appear in... oooh right."

KA2 producers: "Hi Nick, we were wondering if you wanted to come back for Kick-"

Nick Cage: "I'll do it!"

KA2 Producers: "We don't have a script yet, but..."

Nick Cage: "I said I'll do it, a lack of a script never stopped me from saying yes to a movie before, I ain't going to start now!"

Well, I wonder how they will do this. The second comic arc is very gruesome, Red Myst is insane! And a lot of people follow in KA's footsteps

I think Kick-Ass is the only movie I've enjoyed Nicolas Cage in since the mid/late 90's... this man is in some seriously bad movies as of late.

I have to admit. I haven't enjoyed Nick Cage in a film for a long tie before (or after) Kick-Ass. I don't care if Big Daddy died--comic books get retconned all the time. It would make Kick-Ass that much more authentic.

Apparently, someone found a Civil War photo of a gentleman that looks exactly like Nicolas Cage and claims he must therefore be a vampire. That was definitely my fist assumption.
