It's beginning to look like we're in store for another year of delayed blockbusters, with March now pretty much empty after last night's latest round of postponed releases. April is likely next, and we can only hope Black Widow reaches the big screen in some way, shape, or form this May.
Now, in news which is unlikely to shock anyone, it's been confirmed that Disney has pushed The King's Man from its planned March 12th release to August 20th.
While filmmaker Matthew Vaughn has ambitious plans for the property (including spinoffs and TV shows), there was speculation that this prequel could be offloaded to a streaming service ahead of its planned release. Clearly, that's not the case, so it won't be arriving on Hulu or another streamer just yet.
The Kingsman franchise is popular, though, and could be a good way to lure older moviegoers back to theaters near the end of what's shaping up to be a very quiet summer blockbuster season.
The King's Man was supposed to be released last September, but for obvious reason, that didn't happen.
In the movie, as a collection of history's worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Matthew Vaughn returns to the director's chair with a cast that includes Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, with Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.
