THE KING'S MAN Has Been Pushed Back Following Latest Wave Of Release Date Delays

Yesterday, more highly anticipated blockbusters were delayed (including No Time to Die and Morbius), and to the surprise of pretty much no one, The King's Man has also been pushed back by Disney today...

It's beginning to look like we're in store for another year of delayed blockbusters, with March now pretty much empty after last night's latest round of postponed releases. April is likely next, and we can only hope Black Widow reaches the big screen in some way, shape, or form this May.

Now, in news which is unlikely to shock anyone, it's been confirmed that Disney has pushed The King's Man from its planned March 12th release to August 20th.

While filmmaker Matthew Vaughn has ambitious plans for the property (including spinoffs and TV shows), there was speculation that this prequel could be offloaded to a streaming service ahead of its planned release. Clearly, that's not the case, so it won't be arriving on Hulu or another streamer just yet.

The Kingsman franchise is popular, though, and could be a good way to lure older moviegoers back to theaters near the end of what's shaping up to be a very quiet summer blockbuster season.

The King's Man was supposed to be released last September, but for obvious reason, that didn't happen.

In the movie, as a collection of history's worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Matthew Vaughn returns to the director's chair with a cast that includes Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, with Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.

Black Widow is definitely moving, maybe make it a December release? That's the best call

@bobevanz - I could see BW taking the december spot. Makes sense for a Disney tentpole to have that place

Agreed. Darwin was a complete waste, which sucks because his power set is interesting.

While I appreciate the fact that alot of people cherish the theater going experience, and seeing a new movie with others; some of us just want to see the [frick]ing movie. Why cant they just do both? Theater release AND on Disney+ for a premium. I cant imagine they honestly believe that even when all of this is over that the industry wont be damaged nonetheless. Doesn't matter if they keep pushing titles back, it's just not going to be the same IMO. Why not let people have a choice? Streaming from home, I believe...is the future of Hollywood.

Essentially Disney can't make that decision. They are only the distribution company on the film. Marv Studios are the one who financed and produced it.

Isn’t this Disney now? Jeez now the only franchises I’m keeping up with fall under the House of Mouse.

Can we get new Hellboy and Teenage Turtles franchises please. Do it like how Bumblebee reignited the transformers universe.

Of course movies are getting delayed and not released on streaming, there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel so obviously they are going to delay a little more. After all these delays they’re not likely to abandon the strategy right before the end.
