Like her co-stars, Sydney Sweeney was initially very excited to join the Marvel Universe with Madame Web. We still don't know whether Sony Pictures fooled the cast into believing they were joining the MCU, but the movie ended up being a major disappointment either way.
Sweeney, however, was praised for her performance and the fact she pushed to include Spider-Woman's comic-accurate poses in her scenes.
Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH claims the Anyone But You and Immaculate star has been in talks with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about joining the MCU. There's no word on who Sweeney will play, though there are rumblings online about her suiting up as Spider-Man 4's Black Cat.
We'll see. It would be wise to sign the actress up for a role in the MCU, anyway, similar to how James Gunn jumped at the opportunity to enlist Isabel Merced as SUPERMAN's Hawkgirl.
The popular leaker also reiterates past rumours that Josh Brolin's Thanos is set to return to the MCU in the near future as well. That's a questionable decision given how the Mad Titan's story ended, but with a Multiverse of Variants, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised.
The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez has also shared some cryptic scoops on X, teasing plans for Hank Pym to join the Illuminati and for Doctor Strange to lead a new version of the group.
He also debunks reports about Ben Affleck suiting up as Daredevil in Deadpool & Wolverine, suggesting there will be a story-based reason for Jennifer Garner's Elektra showing up without 'ol Hornhead by her side.
Perez later revealed, "There’s a reason they’re making The Fantastic Four’s debut in an alternate universe where the 60s look like The Jetsons brought to life. They need to establish just how big the threat this Saga can be that it can even cross over to different universes. So yes, they’re important."
It's been obvious for a while now that The Fantastic Four will take place on another Earth. For Marvel Studios, that gives them the freedom to tell a 60s-based story with the team that doesn't contradict Earth-616's established history.
Marvel Studios has announced that Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing) will lead The Fantastic Four cast. Julia Garner has also joined the reboot as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer.
Director Matt Shakman worked with both Avatar: The Way of Water co-writer Josh Friedman and WandaVision's Cam Squires on The Fantastic Four's screenplay, with Eric Pearson (Black Widow) recently coming on board for a final polish.
The movie is set to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
