Marvel Studios recently severed ties with Jonathan Majors after the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki actor was found guilty of two of the charges filed against him by ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
The jury found Majors guilty of two misdemeanour counts of harassment and assault, as well as not guilty on two additional charges of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree.
We've heard conflicting reports about Marvel's plans for the Kang character, but the latest rumor is claiming that the studio does intend to recast the villain, and we may know who Kevin Feige has in mind to step into the role.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Colman Domingo is "one option" to replace Majors, but he stresses that it's very early days.
Domingo is a multi-award winning actor, writer and director, who has appeared in the likes of Fear the Walking Dead, Lincoln, Selma, If Beale Street Could Talk and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. More recently, he garnered acclaim for playing the lead role in biographical drama, Rustin.
At 54, Domingo is quite a bit older than Majors, but it's already been established that the Multiverse is full of vastly different Kang Variants, which would make recasting the role relatively simple.
As for the next Avengers movie, it's believed that The Kang Dynasty subtitle has been dropped (no surprise there), and the project is being referred to internally as "Avengers 5" for the time being. To what extent the current story will be altered remains to be seen, but Marvel revamping it as "Secret Wars Part 1" is sounding more and more likely.
Jeff Sneider has heard that "Secret Wars is basically shaping up to be a giant five-hour movie with a year-long intermission.”
As we know, Loki writer Michael Waldron was hired to pen a new draft, but reports indicate that the events of Loki season 2 are still going to inform the main plotline, which means Kang would remain on as a central character. Richtman has also heard that, despite rumors to the contrary, Doctor Doom was never being positioned to replace Kang as the new big bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and would have (and may still be) a secondary villain of the next Avengers films.
This is obviously just a rumor for now, and even if Domingo is a possibility to take over as Kang, there are bound to be others. Assuming he is a contender, do you think Domingo would be a good choice to play the Conqueror? Drop us a comment down below.
