All New Still of The Phantom, Premiering Tonight in Canada

Syfy's two-part live-action superhero mini series featuring the classic comic book hero The Phantom is airing tonight on the Movie Network's MFun channel in Canada. It won't be shown in the States until 2010 though.

The great guys at Phantomsite.net has a quote from the new Phantom himself Ryan Carnes about playing the classic iconic superhero.

"What's really great about The Phantom is that he doesn't have bells and whistles," Ryan Carnes explains in the movie's press materials. "He can't shoot webs out of his arm. He doesn't crawl on buildings or hang upside down anywhere. He doesn't turn green and giant. He has a suit that gives him a little bit of extra added strength, speed, incredible insight and instinct but other than that he's just an ordinary guy. He's just got himself and his suit. And I appreciate that. Bare bones."

LEEE777 - I gotta admit i want to see this before i give it anything negative, it sounds they want to keep to the feel of The Phantom, it's just the outfit bothering me, but small potatoes because if this mini series turns into an on going series all that could change, fingers crossed.

Damn I really like Phantom from the Sunday comics, the comic in the 90s to Phantom 2040. I even like this old cartoon I dont remember them name but it had the Phantom and Flash Gordon in it together. I also liked the Billy Zane movie even though it was a little hokey.

But I hate this, the costume looks like crap and in that pic thats not even a ring it looks like its a stupid stud sewn on a glove.

The drawing of the suit actualy looks as tho it would work, but the suit i see in the trailer...not so much.

I think the angle they were looking for was the same for storm shadow...

a suit that can be warn in public vs tights or ninka suits and then become the heros/vilians fighting suit.

i hated storm shawods suit at first...but after seeing the movie, I see how it can work as a real world suit then transforms to ninja outfit. Devils Dog Comics version of Storm shadow used a suit like that.

1) Canada rocks, sorry you cant hear me over the sound of your guns :)

2) who cares about the exact specifications of the suit because really the original is corny as hell. NO character today would be well received with that suit and obviously they want to reach a wider audience than the group of Phantom fanboys (which i can only assume is like 12 guys)

3) i do have to admit the 'hood' thing seems to be getting overused but the rest of the suit is aight

4) Billy Zane may not be able to see through walls but he could kick your ass :)
