V for Vendetta

When I learned that this was a DC character, I was shocked. This movie doesn't feel like a comic book movie, but instead a revolution/thought provoking film. It gives you the idea of a world that goes to hell and the only country left standing strong is Britain (which I can see btw) Hugo Weaving is perfect as ever in this role, and Natalie Portman finally sheads off the dread of the Star Wars prequels. When people list their top 10-20 films, they seem to overlook this.
X-men 3-The Last Stand
C.
Too short, rushed, overstuffed, and above all, disappointing, X3 offers us what we really didn't want-a Bret Ratner film. This destroyed what magic the first two brought to the screen and killed off two important characters-Charles and Cyclops. If it wasn't for First Class, X-men would be looked back upon as the franchise that never should have happened.
Superman Returns
B+
I have heard a shit storm of CBM.com users that hate this movie. I'm probably one of the few that enjoyed this film. Brandon Routh really did look like Christopher Reeves, but unfortunately he didn't talk as much. The movie is indeed longer than it needs to be, however the action sequences are very well put together and thrilling. Good movie by Singer and it makes us forget Superman 3 and 4.

Spider-man 3
C+
This is the most disappointing ending to a trilogy to date. Even though its marginally better than X3 as a whole, Spider-man 3 is just like it-overstuffed. There's too many villains, too many meandering subplots that you get confused as to what the heck happened while making this movie. I'll give it credit-loved Venom.
Fantasic Four-Rise of the Silver Surfur

This sequel to the 2005 film is much better, more entertaining, and less cheese. But overall this movie isn't special. The whole plot is passable, the performances are forgettable and the ending sucks.

Iron Man

When I saw the first previews of this movie, I thought instantly that Marvel had found its second 'Hulk' picture. But as the weeks grew closer, it started to look better and better. Robert Dowey Jr. really turned his career around with this one. He made us forget that druggie actor long ago. It really kicked started him for future roles in other movies. The movie has a lot of well crafted humor that comes at unexpected times and the action serves the story. Easily in my top 3 CBM of all time.
The Incredible Hulk

Simply this was a pretty good movie. It was a huge improvement over its predecessor staring Eric Bana (who I thought didn't do a bad job to be honest) Edward Norton gives a better Bruce Banner in this more action packed and entertaining film. Loved it, and I loved the set up for the Avengers in the end.
The Dark Knight
A+
This is by far the best CBM around. Why? because its more of a crime drama than a CBM; a crimegangster movie with a CBM premise. I hate it when some users say 'Christopher Nolan isn't god'. Well he may not be god but he sure knows how to make a damn good movie. He's proven in the past 10 years that he's one of the best directors out there and he shows it in The Dark Knight. Boasting an evil and psychotic villain with the joker, and a great perfomance by Christian Bale, The Dark Knight offers us the thrills, chills and an unexpected twist that a CBM rarely offers. Its a shame that Christopher Nolan wasn't nominated for this OR Inception.

What the hell happened? The previews of this movie made it look so incredibly good! I was sure we had another Sin City on our hands. But in fact we had the exact opposite. The visuals were excellent, but they can't help the wooden acting and dumb plot. It made a big point-never make a movie in Albuquerque. Biggest disappointment of the year for me.

Watchmen
A
Zack Synder was the perfect choice for direction for Watchmen. Although the ending is different than the Graphic Novel, the movie still respects the book nonetheless. This movie isn't for the faint heart. Its extremely violent and terrifying in some places. Loved it. Excellent CBM, although there's a huge sense of something missing.
X-men Origins: Wolverine

Once again I was tricked by the trailers. When I went to see this on opening night, I wanted my money back. In some cases its just as bad if not worse than X3. Grant it the action sequence that involves him trying to escape Striker's men on the motorcycle is pretty cool, but the rest of the movie just is plain bad. You didn't care about Sabretooth being his brother; you didn't care about Deadpool mainly because he wasn't used right and the love story was generic and lame.

Iron Man 2

I had expected much more from this movie. Much more. RDJ is just as good as he was in the first film, but this movie isn't up to par as its predecessor. It promises more action to the audience, but doesn't deliver. WTF? When he faces Whiplash for the final time, its way way too short and thus disappointing. The only highlight of this film really isn't related to its character-its the end credits scene setting you up for Thor.

Thor

Finally! A Fresh and exciting CBM since the Dark Knight. This is the one of the best Superhero movies since the Dark Knight and it seems as if the drought of good CBMs was finally over. But this movie does have several parts where it drags on. Especially when he's stuck on Earth. It wasn't as exciting as I thought it was gonna be. Tom Hiddleson is the highlight of the movie for me. He gave us a troubled, dark, and jealous brother of the God of Thunder. The scene where he's mocking Thor before their showdown is as good as it gets.
X-men First class
A-
It seemed after Singer departed, the X-men movies lost their way. But now we got a refreshing flick from Marvel, and more importantly one that brought back the magic of the Singer X-men movies. Fassenbener and McAvoy were perfectly casted in this flick. However this is a more atmospheric flick, talky and heavy.
Green Lantern
A
This and Thor are the best CBMs since The Dark Knight. GL offers us a lot of action, an actor well fit for his role as the hero, and a large, frightening villain that sucks fear out of innocent lives. Ryan Reynolds was excellent. There's no doubt about that. I feel that the majority of the bad reviews were targeted towards him considering the guy doesn't have a good track record with critics, and the other thing that gave it bad ratings is that the bar was set too high for CBMs this year. If GL came out in Thor's place, then that 27% on RT would be 70%. Sad to see that. And since general audiences take Critic grades too seriously, its not hard to see why this movie isn't doing so well. By far one of the most underrated movies in recent years.
Well there ya have it.
