One man's opinion shouldn't be taken as gospel. It's really too early to be making any concrete preditions such as "Thor won't get made".

I know the Marvel Studio's films would be expensive but do we really know the finances of the company? Are they made available in the public domain? If not, we have to rely on what we can see and what I see is this: Marvel Studios managed to hire Sam Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, RDJ, Mickey Rouke, Natalie Portman, Kenneth Branagh etc. who are all world class actors/actresses with high fees. Marvel is a professional business and I highly doubt that they would shoot themselves in the foot and "run out of money". They're a credible business which means they've got business plans which I'm sure factor into it budgets for these films.

So no. I don't think Marvel is struggling that much with financing these movies. But then again, I am one man with one opinion...;)

i actually think this will be OK. Because disney has massive pockets and if they let marvel studios make their movies with really no input from disney big wigs, it should be ok. As long as they dont get kiddy with everything, but i think they realize that these properties are worth a lot. still holding back total judgement Though.

I just can't really wrap my head around this. I'm not a hardcore fan boy, but I don't want Diseny f'ng with a great product. It's just aggravating.

These guys told us a whole lot of nothing. Just speculation that everyone has been doing anyway. Just do not expect any darker/grittier stuff. And Thor will get made idc what this guy says, Disney is about the money. Thor has summer blockbuster written all over it, and helps set up the ultimate blockbuster money-maker that could possibly be made, Avengers. How can Disney not greenlight those projects?

Bamf7 - 9/1/2009, 2:04 PM
Nah...look, I'm sure they will have some kid-oriented stuff made with Marvel Characters. They will probably capitalize on the Superhero Squad, and stuff like that. But I still think they will let the Marvel movies stay on track. What Marvel is doing right now, is what is making Marvel money. And Disney wants some of that money...so I think it's a safe bet that they are gonna let them keep it up.

I guess its really a waiting game. I like the idea of Marvel having more money, but this is Disney come there will be changes to the movies. I'm glad to hear the comics will be left alone.

thwhtGuardian - 9/1/2009, 2:31 PM
That was pointless, just more paranoia. Did Disney ever put pressure on the Wienstien's? No, they make what ever movies they choose to make. Marvel studios will operate in the same fashion.

I think Disney should buy back all the properties owned by other companies for Marvel so they can make everything all one big universe, like it should be.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing, Disney means more money which in turn means bigger budgets for Super Hero films, and that is a good thing.

as long as they keep the marvel properties out of the Kingdom Hearts games I will be ok with this.

SirPrize you have to look at how disney has behaved with their other properties. They have never meddled so why would they start now? They've seen that when they take the back seat good things happens, it's their buisness strategy and it works. Nothing has changed except now we will see thor and the avengers where as before marvel may not have had the cash to do it.
NERO
NERO - 9/1/2009, 2:44 PM
I think the slate of movies that have been lined up will remain. I don't think that Disney would kill thor or cap, and certainly not avengers.

@LEEE MAYBE JUST MAYBE now that marvel is owned by disney maybe they can get the rights back by buying them from FOX if they offer enough money. Then things can be done RIGHT with better CGI. :]] let me have my little moment ok..it was an idea haha

this guy in the video has no idea what hes talking about. they could have just interviewed the guy behind the counter at the comic store and gotten more.

People ,people , calm down. I can almost gaurantee you Disney did not walk up to the people at Marvel a couple of days ago and make an offer. This is something that has been coming and been negotiated for a long time. Its not gonna change much of anything that has already been announced.I would be suprised if some of the upcoming Marvel projects were not developed with Disney in mind.I would venture a guess Marvel was certain of this buy out before Comic Con, that was not very long ago,so they wouldnt have been feeding the fans Mis imformation there.
DDD
DDD - 9/1/2009, 3:06 PM
All this is speculation because there has been no official announcement from Marvel or Disney on just what they're doing with anything yet. I don't think Disney is going to shoot themselves in the foot by meddling in Marvel and destroying their comic and movie fan-base. They're business people. They mess with their own properties but not of their subsidiaries.
