"he writes batman comics"

he writes more than batman comics, but does he finish his runs?? i'll answer that for you, no. his daredevil run was on of the best daredevil stories i've read, but since then he's had his hand at a batman story, and a green arrow story, both of which he started but never finished. they started selling the series, and now fans are left hanging out to dry because it will never be finished. and now he's writing Batman: The Widening Gyre, which is still coming out, so hopefully it'll get finished...if i were DC the guy wouldn't put a finger on a single one of my properties unless he agreed to finish it before they even started selling the first issue.

Yeah...I don't know. I'm sure he could come up with a great story, but I don't know how he would handle a big budget action film. I like the guy though.

So, a Superman reboot is likely to happen. How do you feel about that Mr. Smith?

I agree.

U know he breaks it down pretty good. The movie was boring, glad i didnt' by it on dvd.

superman is way over-rated. so is cap for that matter. two characters struggling to prove they're still viable despite it being glaringly obvious that they should have been retired 30 years ago.
MatchesMalone
MatchesMalone - 9/2/2009, 1:11 PM
ReddHot-Superman is the first superhero. Ever. Saying they should retire him is like saying someone should burn their Honas Wagner baseball card. Without Superman there would be no Batman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Wolverine, etc. You're a dumb-ass.

I thought it was funny but, alotta the ppl in the audience looked bored. Obviously non-comic book fans. When he he asked about the trekkies like two guys raised their hands in the front row lol.

ReddHot @ Read "Superman For All Seasons" or "Superman: Secret Identity". These are, among many, a couple of my favorite books.

Superman ain't dead, it's just that directors/writers have misrepresented him on film.

We need to believe a man can fly... and beat the crap outta villains.

"You raped me and I hate you now". That certainly would have made Superman Returns more entertaining. I love hearing Kevin Smith's insight and opinions on comic book stuff. Even if you dont agree with it he makes you see it from his prespective.

So far I'm enjoying Batman: The Widening Gyre.
ComicChic

The thing that bothered me most about that movie is how weak Lois was. Lois is supposed to be a strong woman who stands up for herself and goes after what she wants not a whiney a$$ damsel in distress. The emo makes my head hurt.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!! Kevin Smith is a great filmmaker/comic book writer!!! HE should do a comicbookfilm!!!!
GUNSMITH
GUNSMITH - 9/2/2009, 4:59 PM
THE COOL THING ABOUT HIM IS HE'S STRAIGHT UP AND HE CAN DEFEND HIMSELF IF SOMEONE SLAMS HIS OPINION OR RAGS ON HIM VERY VERY WELL, HE'S A LINGUISTIC JEDI MASTER WITH A POTTY MOUTH.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 9/2/2009, 5:26 PM
He's too kind by making the comparison to Star Trek: The Motion Picture. They were both boring, yes, but ST: TMP didn't have the plot holes or the lame plot devices that SR had. I can actually watch it from time to time. SR, I can't. It pisses me off too much.
longbowhunter
longbowhunter - 9/2/2009, 6:09 PM
ComicChic, that was my main problem with that movie. Lois acted like weak, timid puppy through the whole thing. The reason Lois Lane needs a Superman is because she always fights back and gets in over her head. Enter Superman. They really stripped everything away from her character and thats why I cant stand Rachel McAdams.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 9/2/2009, 6:12 PM
What does Rachel McAdams have to do with it??? It was Kate Bosworth.

Smith is amazing and I love all the Evenings With vids, but isn't this like, 2 years old? From his second or third Evening? The vids from his Panel at SDCC are better than these. Specially when he rips on Twilight.

Tony: I agree. He knows all about Superman and comic books, and if Jon Favreau can make a kick ass Iron Man movie, then why can't Smith?

This has to be old, because he didn't mention the new star trek, OR the fact that there's widespread speculation of a Supes Reboot

He tried once and Tim Burton told him to F##k off after he wrote the script, which was great by the way. You can look up that video on youtube where he addresses a college about trying to get it (forgive the pun) off the ground. He's a funny fat man.

@Comicchic and Longbow. How was Lois Lane weak? She was more heroic than Superman. Hell SHE saved HIS ass, also she got that chick in her seat in the plane and ended floating around and being tossed around like a hackey sack in that plane. She also was mouthy against Lex Luthor and seemed strong when Superman was in the hospital. I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you there she seemed strong to me and it was Supes who was weak.
