On November 16, 2012, Hostess Brands Inc. today announced that it is winding down operations and has filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court seeking permission to close its business and sell its assets, including its iconic brands and facilities. Bakery operations have been suspended at all plants. Delivery of products will continue and Hostess Brands retail stores will remain open for several days in order to sell already-baked products. Some of food and snacks that the company made were Ho Hos, Cupcakes, Fruit Pies, Doughtnuts, Wonder Bread, Yodels, and the greatest snack on Earth – the Twinkie. Many childhoods (including mine) were destroyed by the lost.

Hostess has teamed up with comics before. There are some older ads that have heroes from both Marvel and DC.

Hostess has also made special edition snacks for heroes. The first photo we see are an ad for snack packs that feature Batman, Superman, Flash, and Green Lantern on the box. It’s funny how Flash and Green Lantern got special edition snacks and Batman and Superman didn’t. In the second photo we see special edition Hulk snack packs by Hostess.

The Twinkie has made many references in well known movies. Here are some references to the almighty Twinkie.

As a kid I loved Twinkies and those chocolate cupcakes. Can’t believe they are going to be gone. Also can’t believe Wonder Bread was part of Hostess and that will be gone. That’s my favorite type of bread. This is a sad day. Peace.
