As many of you know, there are not one but two films coming out based on the legendary mythological character known as Hercules. Empire had a chance to get a one-on-one with the director of HERCULES 3D, Renny Harlin. You can view what was said below:

"We're somewhere between Gladiator and Clash Of The Titans"

"Ours is definitely based on the mythology of Hercules, but we don't have monsters and flying horses and things like that."

"Our story is the young Hercules, so I would say that the sequel will probably dive into the Labours. As you know, in the mythology Hercules ended up killing his wife and children, and as atonement he got the 12 Labours. So we definitely reference them as a future thing, but he doesn’t go through them because he’s just starting his journey."

"It's an origin story about how a young man comes to terms with learning he’s the son of Zeus", says Harlin, "and how he deals with the destiny that he has".

"It’s definitely a very different look at Hercules,"

"I really wanted to bring in all those mythological elements, so that people can Google the names of characters and places and learn more about them."

So, how anticipated are you for this Hercules film? Are you anticipating this more than Ratner's Hercules film or vice-versa? Be sure to comment below and be sure to like this article.

Sounds like it'll be somewhere between "Clash of the Titans" and "Kull the Conqueror."

I think both this and the Ratner movie will be any good. I probably won't see either of them.

"We're somewhere between Gladiator and Clash Of The Titans" Hopefully, from a quality standpoint, is closer to the Gladiator, but with this director it's probably closer to Clash of the Titans, if it's even that good.

I would like to respectfully submit that the commenters, so far, are a little crazy. Do we really need another half-baked mythology movie like Clash?

Try something new. This may be really good.

Of course, you could all be right and it will suck, but at least they're trying something.....I'm getting sick of these canned movies.

Never heard of any of the actors in this movie except Scott Adkins & the girl from Game of Thrones. Never really liked any movies that Renny Harlin directed. 2 bad directors both making Hercules, I'll pass I think.

Hopefully it's closer to Gladiator...but with some fantasy aspects. After all, it's Hercules we're talking about. No fantasy in Hercules is like having no magic in Harry Potter!

What this dude said is hilarious.

Why even consider developing a 'Hercules' film when they cant even get the mythology right.
