Sam Rockwell Reveals His Desire To Play A Superhero On The Big Screen!

Despite playing a villain in Iron Man 2 and having a role in the adaptation of Cowboys & Aliens, the actor has now revealed that he has his sights set on playing an actual superhero...

In the latest issue of Empire, the actor (who played the villainous Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2) told the magazine that he would make a "great" comic book superhero on the big screen. As you may already know, he was once in the running to play Tony Stark before Robert Downey Jr. was cast and also portrayed Batman in the spoof short film, Robin's Big Date.

"I'd love to play a superhero. I know it'd take some doing to convince some people, but I think I'd be a great one."

"I've played Batman, but I've never had superpowers and I'd love to get some. It's about time."

What would you guys think of him playing a superhero? Can you think of any character in particular that he'd be well suited to playing? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

Honestly, I would give him a shot as practically anyone! Ok physically he doesn't match up with many heroes but this guy has the chops to convince anyway.

I would imagine that he'll be back as Justin Hammer in Iron Man 3 (it would be a complete and utter waste of the character not to bring him back IMO) so I can't imagine Marvel Studios casting him in another role...he should definitely get a shot at playing a superhero though, because he's an amazing actor. Just watch Moon if you need proof of that!

Darken his hair a bit and give him a decent goatee and he is a perfect Dr Strange.

Hell no to Dr Strange.....The only role I see for him is Bruce Banner...he is either too old or too tiny to play a big super hero...

i would love to see a "nova" film & it may work with sam rockwell, but i've always pictured chris pine in that role.

Well, since he's portraying a character in a combined cinematic universe, I don't think he would quite have the chance to fill any other roles anytime soon. His best option would be to try to snag a DC comics character off the shelf.

I agree he should stay as Hammer in Marvel and play a hero in DC. Good Ideas LEEE and Growler, even though I haven't seen him in much I still think he'd be good in both those roles.

Would have been perfect for Ed Norton's replacement if not for his role as Justin Hammer.

I think he'd be a good fit for Homelander in the Boys film. Speaking of which, whats going on with that, I haven't seen anything on it since it was announced that it'd been picked up.
