Stan Lee Reveals The Marvel Movies He Thinks We Will Be Seeing In The Future

Stan Lee dropped a call to MTV while celebrating his birthday, and talked about the Marvel comic characters he is sure we will be seeing on screen sooner or later...

"The funny thing is, I think all of them will come to the screen sooner or later," Lee told MTV News, "because they're always looking for new properties, and Marvel has more than anybody."

"Doctor Strange I'm sure will be out. You probably know they're working on Ant-Man now," he added. "Every one of the Marvel characters, there's somebody working on it. Somebody is trying to put together a story that will work."

"It's just a matter of time — they can only do so many a year," he explained. "You don't want to flood the market. I'm sure [they'll do] the Black Panther eventually."

"If they ever want to do a war story, we have Sgt. Fury," he said. "We already have Colonel Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. who pops up in so many of these. In fact, there might one day be a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie."

"It's just a matter of them sitting down and saying, 'What haven't we done yet?'" he laughed.

I hope Stan "The Man" is going on more than gut instinct here and we do get to see these movies. Dr Strange and Black Panther would be at the top of my list..i'd also like another Daredevil movie please!

I'll be happy to see any of the above mentioned characters make their way to the big screen..!!

As long as they're made by Marvel Studios rather than the likes of Fox then they have a pretty good chance of being good!

Fingers crossed that these get made at the same time as sequels to Captain America etc! The thought of two or three Marvel made movies in a year is a great one!! :D

A Marvel made Daredevil or Fantastic Four movie is what I'd most like to see though!

Daredevil TV show. after the other thread where everyone is talking about what TV shows from marvel they'd like to see. im convinced: don't make another DD movie. make a show. law and order meets dexter (with less killing of course)

but i don't think marvel has the tv rights to DD:(

Also, heroes for hire. thats a great concept!

HONESTLLY, BOTTOM LINE..MARVEL COMICS IS A VERITABLE GOLD MINE OF STORIES..FROM THE WELL KNOWN TO THE NOT SO WELL KNOWN, WE'VE SEEN THIS WITH BLADE WHO WAS ACTUALLY THE START OF THE GOOD MARVEL FILMS..NOW THE TECHNOLOGY HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE THESE STORIES NOT ONLY LOOK REAL ..BUT ALSO DO THEM JUSTICE..AND WITH A POWERHOUSE RESOURCE AS GRAND AS DISNEY BACKING MARVEL..WELL, MARVEL IS KING.

Also, c'mon guys? really? ant-man? you WANT to see ant-man in the avengers? i guess im all for giving him HIS OWN movie, that way i don't have to watch it. but if ant-man is in an avengers movie every time you see him thats time taken away from all of the other avengers who are way cooler, make more sense, and are more popular, like Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Hulk, Black Widow, War Machine, Fury, Hawkeye (it seems)

Thats not good enough for ya?! it is for me! i don't want ant-man to take away any time from any of those characters. he's useless. they wont use insects to take down the hulk or loki or the armies of super-solider-hulks they're going to build.

Ant-Man - Officially: POINTLESS

TheDemonHunter - 12/29/2009, 10:21 AM
Out of all the Marvel characters that need exposure, Ant Man is one of those who has always been a third-tier hero at best. Whether it was Hank Pym or Scott Lang, he was always strictly supporting cast material. Put simply, he just isn't that interesting. He's perfect as a member of the Avengers' supporting cast, but seriously, we really don't need an Ant Man movie to distract from other stuff that isn't tied into the Avengers, do we?

For that reason alone, I'm hoping Ant Man never gets past the development stage.
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 12/29/2009, 10:22 AM

yes. exactly why there is NO REASON FOR AN ANT-MAN MOVIE:)

to much quality stuff to do a guy who talks to insects.

ANT MAN?

OR GIANT MAN?
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 12/29/2009, 10:30 AM
He is pointless--- on his own. He is however extremely important to the Avengers.
He was a founding member.
His wife the Wasp is a founding member.
Without Ant man there is no growth serum, so not only would there be no Giant Man, you would also have no (Clint Barton) Goliath or Black Goliath or Scott Lang or cassie Lang for The Young Avengers.
Without Ant Man the Avengers would be missing their greatest enemy in Ultron.
Without Ant Man and no Ultron, who would have created The Vision?
Without Ant Man or Ultron, who would have created Jocasta?

I'm sure there are a plethora of things I left out, but this should give you a clue as to Pyms relevance.

Before you say Ant Man is pointless, take a look at how important he is to The Avengers.

Say he is boring if you choose, but pointless he is not.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/29/2009, 10:35 AM
Not pointless..just shit! Pym is interesting in The Ultimates..otherwise he's just a poor version of countless similar type characters that exist in the Marvel universe. Yeah he may be important to The Avengers because he's an original member of the team but that doesn't mean he's good.

I do get what your saying about Ultron etc..but thats not anything that has to be set in stone in the movies..or at least not involving Pym...yes, i suggested some changes from the comics..try not to have a hernia fanboys!:)

jazzman - 12/29/2009, 10:38 AM
i agree with you guys i dont feel Ant-Man solo movie is not a good idea. but having him in the Avenger seems alright.

A7
A7 - 12/29/2009, 10:39 AM
without antman how would the avengers get that quarter that rolled under the couch?
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 12/29/2009, 10:41 AM
Ror@

yes Pym is interesting. his relationship with his wife COULD be very interesting.

Hawks@

Yes he is vital to the avengers in the comics. but with only 2 movies out so far we've seen this marvel universe is drastically different from the one in the comics. in the movies it seems that nick fury is forming the avengers. so already he isn't relevant to the formation of the team. There is no need for all the Goliaths, Yellow Jackets, ect... to be in the movies. there are already enough characters to fill a good movie. it's just not neccesary to shoe-horn him into the team when the team is taking shape on it's own without him.

Also, Ultron could have a completely different origin. one i've speculated about before on this site but no need to get into that...
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 12/29/2009, 10:41 AM
Ror: I never said good, I said relevant and important. You may not like his story, but it is an important one to the whole Marvel univers.
And his character hasn't done one thing differently in the Ultimates than it has in the 616 universe, he just did it all quicker.
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 12/29/2009, 10:44 AM
Hey' I don't like the character either, and I don't believe he would need a solo movie to be in the Avengers movie.
I'm just saying that the dude is important as all Hell in the sceme of things.
Ryden
Ryden - 12/29/2009, 10:45 AM
@A7- LOL :D

I do like the Ant-Man character but I think for the Avengers film Giant-Man is needed and they will hint at Ant-Man in the past. Since it's not a great quality for a superhero to be tiny.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/29/2009, 10:51 AM
I would like Pym himself in The Avengers..working away in the back ground in a supporting role. But to actually see him become either Ant or Giant Man would be over kill I think. One or two scenes of Fury introducing Pym and his wife Janet to Cap/Stark or whatever would actually be enough for me.
ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 12/29/2009, 10:52 AM
I'm begining to think Stan Lee's mind is no longer in mint condition!

He's been flogging the Dr Strange idea since Spidey 2! Although it'll be a damn sight better than Ant-Man, he's just repeating himself...again!
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 12/29/2009, 10:56 AM
Ryden: I always thought Yellowjacket was his best persona. He could grow stealthy small. He could fly. He retained his normal size strength. And he had his disruptor blasts.
Ant Man as you say was useless as a fighting partner against power villains.
And I never understood Giant Man for the simple reason that there were few comic villains that didn't posses some sort of ray or laser or gun. Why would anyone want to be as big as a house when fighting someone like that. You would be one Hell of a target.

Ror: I agree. I would be happy if they just acknowlege him. He has never been an asset in a fight.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 12/29/2009, 11:04 AM
If they're going to use The Avengers to introduce Captain America then I think that bringing in Ant-Man/Wasp in the same movie might make things a little too crowded unfortunately! I'd really like to see them in the movie so if they can introduce them effectively then I'd love to see Giant-Man (Ant-Man would just look like a joke IMO) and Wasp fighting alongside Cap, Thor and Iron Man!! :)

GiantMan

Wasp

Ant Man at the beginning of the movie, and then 10 minutes in he figures out how to grow.....

But really, how involved is Stan in all of this?
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 12/29/2009, 12:06 PM
i think the best way to do a Black Panther is to intorduce a crisis in Wakanda in Avengers 2. i wish they could use Doom, but just have whatever bad guy you want to use mining vibrainium from wakanda. possibly Ultron is using the mineral to construct other androids to do his bidding. and there you have it. a logical way for black panther and the avengers to 'team-up'

Dr. Strange could make a great movie if done right. Ant-Man... not so much. Sure the special effects would be amazing, but what about story? Can anyone honestly name an Ant-Man villian, or perhaps a pivotal Ant-man solo arc? Maybe if they just made it a Pixar film (seeing as they are with Disney) thats fun for the family, then that would be neat. I just dont see too many people taking him seriously.
