ESPN's Monday Night Football game between the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panters was the big winner Monday night. Ratings were a solid 11.2, up 42% from last Monday's game. Panthers hung on to beat the Patriots 24-20. It was a thrilling game, but marred with controversy. In the final moments of the game, superstar quarterback Tom Brady was marching his team down field for yet another one of his miraculous fourth-quarter comebacks, but a controversial non-call sealed the team's fate. What happened? With a few seconds left on the clock Brady threw a pass into the end zone intended for his tight end, Rob Gronkowski. Yes, the pass was under-thrown, but Gronk wasn't able to correct his path as his route was impeded by Carolina linebacker, Luke Kuechly. The ball ended up being intercepted by Carolina Panthers safety Robert Lester. A flag was thrown, but officials huddled together and decided that there was no foul on the play. Game over. Referee Clete Blakeman, would clarify after the game that the non-call was due to the pass being deemed uncatchable. Either way, ESPN commissioned, Phil Cho, to create superhero-inspired artwork for the game. One, if Cam Newton was victorious, which he was. And another, if Tom Brady had been victorious, which he was not. Enjoy!

How is that not pass interference? Blown call... And I'm not a pats fan either. Panthers were def the better team on the field tho for the entire game and deserved the win.

Nice art either way...

@ElDarkside if the Patriots were the better team why did Cam Newton and the Panthers score late in the 4th quarter? Good teams don't let the refs decide their fate.

You don't put yourself into position to let the refs decide the game. The Pats were driving and Ridley fumbled. That was likely a bigger issue.

All that said, terrible call. You can't wrap up a receiver and ride him out of the play while the ball is in the air. That guy wasn't even trying to play the ball. Officiating the NFL is generally bad.

I'll give the Panthers their props that defense is the real deal. But come on now how the heck did they not call Pass Interference on that last call? I mean the ref said it wasn't "catchable" LOL uh yes because the guy held the receiver from getting to it.

@B&Y - those refs did a pretty thorough job of that to us already in super bowl XL....oh god, I'm still bitter about that...I need some help! d;-)

@OmegaDaGod, if you're saying it wasn't catachable thus it wasn't pass interference then you still have to call holding.

Earlier in the game they called PI on Devin McCourty and he didn't have his arms wrapped around the TE. That ball was over the guys head and likely not catchable.

If you don't call PI you have to call at least defensive holding and the Pats would have a had a pass play with no time 5 yards closer.

The ref probably should have turned a blind eye (like refs typically do at end of games even when there are penalties) since it was the last play in the game but he threw the flag and should have stuck with it. Refs screwed the Pats but that wasn't why they lost. Make play early and you don't have to worry about refs screwing you over.

Guys we all know the cowboys are going to the super bowl:) anyways I missed the game but I was in shock when I heard the panthers won. Their win against the 49ers was a statement win but this win was a statement saying they are a serious Super Bowl contender. I'm actually excited to see where the panthers go from here they've gained a ton of momentum. Cam is playing some great ball and the defense is holding up. Now the cowboys on the other hand need to find a running back, safeties and possibly a future replacement for romo cause he's getting old and will be out in another 5 years. Oh and maybe fire Garrett?

I think it is funny how people are calling the non call bad. The fact is the flag was thrown and the refs talked and it was picked up because the ball, even if Gronk was untouched, was thrown right to Robert Lester. There was another call missed earlier in the game though that could have also effected the outcome. The leg whip against Charles Johnson that took him out of the game for most of the second half was not called. Had the Pats been moved back the 15 yards they could very well have been stopped on that scoring drive. That would have negated the entire final play because the Panthers would have been up by 11 points.

The fact of the matter is the Panthers won and the Patriots are used to having all the calls go their way. Shoot they actually made two rules solely because of the Pats. The tuck rule and the Brady rule (no hitting the QB low) Every big market team that everyone talks about all the time gets calls go their way. Cam Newton got tackled last night nearly the exact same way as Drew Brees did the other day. A flag gets thrown for Brees but not for Cam. Panthers fans are used to getting screwed by BS flags. It is about time other teams get burned by them...

All that aside, I like these. even though Cam does not really look like eCam..

@McGribble lmfao dude it wasnt thrown to robert lester watch the play again. robert lester was able to make the play because the linebacker held gronk and robert lester was able to come in front of him because of that.

Reminds me of when they gave The Fridge his own GIJoe figure. Of course, that was cooler.
