I just watched a movie called True Romance with Oldman in it. This dude is versatile. HE played a Jamaican and nailed it.

Glad to see Oldman finally get a nomination, the dude deserves one for every performance he gives.
But the rest of the list is a mixed bag. No Serkis but Jonah Hill? No Drive but Hugo, The Artist and War Horse? Tintin being snubbed from Best Animated Feature? Meh.

Oldman deserved it for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but Fassbender got shafted for Shame

I swear I'm gonna sue the Academy for not nominating Andy Serkis. I believe he deserves the Best Actor award. C'mon he played a CHIMP and nailed it.

Yea its official that every award is a joke now. I can't believe Drive was only nominated for sound editing -__-, when it at least deserved a best supporting actor nod for Albert Brooks. Michael Fassbender was snubbed as well with his performance in Shame. I also can't believe David Fincher wasn't nominated for best director with The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, along with Nicholas Winding Refn with Drive. And what about a nomination for Andy Serkis for Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

FINALLY...!!! i think Gary Oldman SHOULD HAVE been nominated for many of his previous performances. Sid & Nancy, State of Grace, Bram Stoker's Dracula..The Contender..even his first turn as Gordon, in Batman Begins..deserving some recognition. i'm glad to hear this. and i've seen TTSS, and i think he's exceptionally great in it. he downplays everything, and the one time he raises his voice, it actually gets your reaction. he's just supremely talented, but underrated. i haven't seen Clooney in the much buzzed about The Descendants, so i'd keep my pick reserved til after watching it.

but, seriously...Demian Bichir...A Better Life...WTF?! i mean...not that i don't agree with this nod... i never even KNOW about this movie, much less bout the actor!! kudos to the academy for still managing to give us a surprise or two, here and there.

Melissa McCarthy, for me is expected. and my two personal faves that I just knew WILL get nominated (even though, there seems to be small or NO buzz bout em): Nick Nolte in Warrior and Jessica Chastain in The Help.
