Many characters in comics and movies have given us lines or catchphrases that have stuck with us for years, for some a lifetime. Let me give you my Top 3 CBM lines that have stuck with me.

3. Watchmen
Nite Owl: "What happened to the American Dream?"
The Comedian: "It came true. You're looking at it."

I will say The Comedian is not my favorite character(Ozzy and Rorschach are). But if you actually look and see what "The American Dream" really was and look at our society and culture now, you might just realize that "The American Dream" has turned into "The American Nightmare",and the only thing that Comedian is doing is laughing in our faces.

2. Spiderman
Uncle Ben: "With great power comes great responsibility."

Of course everyone knows this line, it's been said over and over in comics and film. It's one of those lines that you can never forget. EVER!! And you know what? It's still awesome. Thanks Stan.

1. Batman Begins
Thomas Wayne: "Why do we fall Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."

I can never get this one out of my head. I think about this one more than Uncle Ben's line. That line not only gave Thomas much more depth as a character, but also helped Bruce pick himself back up in the most difficult situations. Plus when Alfred said it in the old elevator it made me smile with tears coming down my eyes. (It was a tender moment so stop teasing me! Hahaha)

cool article and pretty interesting picks.
the irony of your #3 pick will probably ring true for decades.
while i understand the Uncle Ben line, it was never my favorite.
i would have to my top three were:
3) "Do I look like a man who exaggerates?"
Although most definitley not the perfect CBM, X-men Origins: Wolverine proved to me that Hugh Jackman will ALWAYS be remembered as Wolverine. he embodied all that made the ol' canucklehead great, and he was never one to exaggerate.

2) "Are you out of your Vulcan mind?!"
Leonard "Bones" McCoy blasted this line out to a blissfully calm Spock. most people faun over how closely Zachary Quinto resembles Nimoy or how accuratley Pine portrayed the arrogance of a young Kirk. but it was Karl Urban imo who PERFECTLY captured the speech, mannerisms, and the overall essence of Bones.

3) "I am Iron Man."
this line changed CBMs imo forever. this was the first time that a regular billionare playboy who was NOT Bruce Wayne come out as a super hero. this causes multiple reprecussions in Iron Man 2. this also solidified RDJ's position by playing the most unpredictable, genius, and overall AWESOME hero that Iron Man is.

Nice Article. Some other memorable quotes from those films include

"Never thought of disposing of sewage with the toilet before. Obvious, really" -Rorschach (Watchmen)

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me" -Batman (Batman Begins)

"I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams." -Aunt May (Spiderman 2)

@SupermarioworldE: I agree with you. Aunt May's little speech was amazing.

It was wasn't it? It kinda set the tone for the whole movie just as Uncle Ben's "With great power comes great responsibility" line did for the first.

Once again, cool article. These are all very memorable lines

I'd add some of the war cries from 300. Like: "Give them nothing but take from them everything" or "Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty... For tonight, we dine in hell!"

Another one of my favorites, V to Creedy: "Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof."

Good quotes. My favorites are...

"In my opinion, the existence of life is a highly overrated phenomenon."

"Scream for me."

"Tonight, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why...somebody knows"

And finally!

"The wind rises, electric. She's soft and warm and almost weightless. Her perfume is a sweet promise that brings tears to my eyes. I tell her that everything will be all right. That I'll save her from whatever she's scared of and take her far, far away. I tell her I love her.
[silenced gunshot] The silencer makes a whisper of the gunshot. I hold her close until she's gone. I'll never know what she was running from. I'll cash her check in the morning."

"Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty... For tonight, we dine in hell!"

i don't think we'll be hearing that second wanted Thor quote. simply because of the fact that the director has already stated that there will be no Olde English in the film.

I like a lot of these, I love the Aunt Mae speech, probably m favorite.

The Henri Ducard speech in BB in prison is great, as is the Bruce Wayne speech in the airplane.

The Jim Gordon end speech is great in TDK

ALmost any Marv line in Sin City, along with "I'm Shelleys new boyfriend and Im out of my mind" and many other SC one's

Then this is a very important week for you Mr Stark-Yinsen IM, just a great line to set the change of Stark in motion

I would say "Why so serious?" is the most famous line from a CBM, actually 2nd, Spidey's "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" is more famous. As for best lines, Thomas Wayne's line is ok but hardly best line in CBM history...BB is such an over-rated movie.

Downey saying "I am Iron Man" at the end of the first film is just pure perfection...that's one of my faves.
