The Goon is 'probably' Fincher's next project

When David Fincher is done with that Facebook movie - it's Knife to the Eye time.

Goon creator/mastermind/artist/writer/comic genius Eric Powell spoke with MTV a while ago and he's semi-confirming that the producer for his film adaptation, David Fincher, wants to get started on the CG animated epic when he's done with The Social Network (a movie based on the creator of Facebook).

"I think as soon as Fincher is finished working on the film he’s on now, they’re going to try and get this thing up and going," said Powell. "It’s in good shape. We’re slowly grinding forward, but all the blocks have to be in place first."

Although Fincher is listed as the producer for The Goon film, Powell can't confirm whether or not he'll be directing the movie, which Powell wrote the script for.

"Directing an animated film is a little different form directing a live-action film, but they’re still making those decisions," said Powell. "Fincher is heavily involved and he’s going to have final say over everything, so we will get his input — he won’t just be a figurehead."

I for one cannot wait for this thing - hopefully it makes way for a darker, more adult oriented CG animated movie world, where not everything has to be a Shrek sexual innuendo in order to appease grown ups. In case you didn't know it either - just a reminder - Clancey Brown and Paul Giamatti will be voicing the Goon and Frankie respectively.

I never read The Goon, but the artwork is awesome and the concept always seemed really cool to me. I did pick up a Superman/Bizarro story that Eric Powell did and it rocked. I can't believe Fincher would want to do a movie about the creator of Facebook BEFORE a Goon movie. WTF?!

I'm not familiar with this title, but it looks pretty cool. Kinda reminds me of "Reid Fleming, World's Toughest Milkman". I'd watch Clancy Brown read the phone book, so you can count me in.

OMG! Goon is so cool. I caught Powell at a comic convention in Nashville a few years back (same one I caught Bruce Jones at) This was when Goon had just come out and I was able to get him to sign a #1! This movie will kick ass! I heard some time ago they were doing this in CG-animation, which I think is way better than a live action attempt.

David Fincher is one of my favorite director's of all time too. All I can say is this... Fight Club!

I am so looking forward to this, even moreso than Batman 3 if done right (well, almost..) but more than The Avengers in any case since they hired Wuss Whedon.
Paul Giamatti is perfect for Frankie, can't wait to hear who they get for 'The Spider'

Too bad it ain't live action, Mickey Rourke would've been perfect for the role.

and speaking of 'live action'..
