Top Ten Most Inaccurate Live Action Super Villain Costumes

Top Ten Most Inaccurate Live Action Super Villain Costumes

You guys have asked to see my Worst Hero and Best Villain costume choices. . . here's a combination of both.

Here are the criteria for this list:

1) Costume deviated so far from the source material (at the time), it’s hard to figure out who is being portrayed.
2) Has a hard time translating on screen.
3) Again, it has to be a person in a costume; 100% CGI doesn’t count (Galactus/cloud in FF2)
4) Disappoint the hell out of me when I see it.

* I’ll state again, these are not my personal favorites for the list, they are the ones that I feel are the most inaccurate.

So here they are, the worst of the worst:

10) The Penguin

Flippers and black blood. 'Nuff said.

9) Mr. Freeze

He looks like the love child of Dr. Manhattan and Optimus Prime.

8) Bullseye

Trench coats are not always the best costume choice (see reference: Smallville)

7) Red Skull

I guess Red Skull might have worn a latex jacket some times. Perhaps it was Domination Tuesday? That would explain the smile.

6) Juggernaut

I don't have the words.

5) Dark Phoenix

What the hell is with the trench coat shtick?

4) Green Goblin

Go, Go Power Goblin!

3) Dracula (Blade Trinity)

Again. . . trench coat. It's like a security blanket for costume designers.

3) Blackheart

Horrible. Just. . horrible. The worst part is that it had so much potential.

1) The Octopus

You take a villain that, after 60 years, has never shown his face and you. . . show his face. Largest deviation by far. To top it off, who would have known it he looked like Nick fury in drag all along?

That's where my list stands. I don't think I forgot any, but I'm sorry if one slipped my mind. If yours goes a little different, feel free to post it below. Remember, if we're going to try comparing lists, you should follow similar criteria. How much you dislike the costume has nothing to do with it; it's all about the accuracy.

Blackheart was always the most disappointing to me. Alot of those movies up there are pretty bad, so i'm not suprised that most of the costumes sucked.

Bullseye and Green Goblin are by far the most disappointing for me especially as both of their costumes could have worked brilliantly onscreen!!!

I disagree with 2 of the entries on the list

1 Mr Freeze - Disappointing Yes, but he does look like
like Mr Freeze (IMHO)

2 Bullseye - Opposite of above, Yes he doesn't look like Bullseys from the comic, but I thought that he was a pretty good villian and not disappointing at all, they did a good job on him (IMHO)

You should have put Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin from Daredevil on the list instead of Bullseye

Also, Black Heart is wearing a...Trenchcoat! Trenchcoat used to be badass, but they're losing thier style.

and why isn't The Absorbing Man from the Hulk movie on the list, or do you consider that CGI? I mean nobody knows who in the Heck even today who Nick Nolte was suppose to be.

I understand that most might disagree with me, but I did not like the Batman Begins version of Ra's al Ghul. Nothing like I would think Ra's al Ghul would be.

I loved the way Burton portrayed the Penguin in Batman Returns. I thought that those differences made him an even better Penguin than the original. I agree to the point that it is not true to the comic, but in this case it wasn't a bad thing.

@joshw24

Is it just me or is the unreleased version of the FF movie from the 90s have a much better Dr Doom?

Some deviations are in order from the comic books. I firmly believe this. Yet some WTF moments on the interpretations are in order. I hated Bullseye's scarring on the forehead. Just stupid. Kingpin is good example of unnecessary multicultural accomadating deviation.

MPP you're right about the trench coat cheats, but other than that, how would you translate some of these villians into the media of film? Would you keep them pure to the exact classic comicbook vision, or would you allow for some change?

Screw you guys, the Green Goblin was awesome.

Stop pickin' on the movies....be nice. And Mr. Freeze wasn't that bad.

I don't like this article. Erase it. :'(

Lol you have a point though. Most of them are amazingly innaccurate

Good ones, Multi ;)

Personally, Magneto's outfit could be a tie with Mr. Freeze's. Cool, but not quite LOL :P
