How could you possibly say that. Have you read the script? Have you any idea how they're all planning to bring Lex to life?

Eisenberg is a good actor whether you like him or not.

I'm really looking forward to his performance.

I think he'll do a good job. I'm not going to pull the Ledger argument because it is used in the wrong way. Ledger's joker wasn't the joker from the comics or what most people were familiar with but it worked despite that. It was new and different. The same can happen with Jess and Lex Luthor.

@Comedian don't forget...

People raged about Keaton as Batman
People raged about Hathaway as Catwoman
People raged about RDJ as Stark
People raged about Hemsworth as Thor
People raged about Evans as Cap
People raged about Ruffalo as Banner
People raged about Adams as Lane
People raged about Hardy as Bane
People raged about Jackman as Logan
People raged about Maguire as Parker
People raged about Goode as Ozymandias
People raged about Norton as Banner
People raged about Elba as Heimdall
People raged about Fishburne as White

and most people would agree the fans were wrong.

@patrat18, the segment on BvS starts at about 1:03:15.

@Brainiac13, I don't believe you watched that film ("The Double). The film had good ratings and the trailer looked interesting. It was based on a classic by Fyodor Dostoyevski.

"People raged when Ledger was cast as the Joker."

Some did. Some didn't.

"People raged when Affleck was cast as Batman."

And boy, has he proven those unhappy with the casting totally wrong with his amazing performance.

...wait...

I want Eisenberg to succeed as LL, I want him to give a performance which will rival Ledger's Joker....

But at this very moment I don't see him as LL......

I'm hoping he knocks it out of the park....

@BenderBendingRodriguez- Lex isn't threatening because of how he looks, he's threatening because he's brilliant, resourceful, ruthless and has the power to back it all up.

Funny how under *eh hem, different circumstances; a part can be cast and celebrated like a sweaty ass party at Zion's core based on the actor having ANY LEVEL of recognizable status, but here, casting is deemed the worst tho the director has already proven himself in this area with staggering efficiency.

@Brainiac13: The Double was as good an interpretation of a Dostoevsky story as could be done on screen. When you are talking about AMBITION, as far as adapting something to the big screen, you can't deny that attempting to entertain a movie-going audience with Dostoevsky is a BIG undertaking. I, for one, think Eisenberg did a commendable job, considering the project. Wake up, and smell the literature that provided the basis for most of the comics we here are taking time to discuss.

@Brainiac13: I will apologize, I just saw your post with the clip from "Social Network". I am glad you see the potential!! I am not at all trying to create a distance between us users, I don't want to come off that way. If you haven't read "The Idiot" or "The Double" by Dostoevsky, you will be intrigued, I am sure. By reading your other posts, I know you are an intelligent reader of comics & graphic novels, & I know you will LOVE seeing the inspiration behind some of our favorite authors!

@DrDoom- Really? Eisenberg casting worse than Channing Tatum as Gambit? At least Eisenberg has acting chops.

Well we all can expect Gambit to have a completely American accent because I can't see Tatum pulling off a Cajun one...

I just don't understand why bother making him Lex Luthor? Either he is going to be a great character that only shares his name with the Traditional Lex Luthor, or he's going to be a really bad Lex Luthor.

Tom Hardy's Bane wasn't really Bane, but he was still fairly interesting and engaging. I just feel like that's the best case scenario for this situation.

That!

We don't know Zack's take on Lex Luthor yet so how can we judge beforehand? And it's not like Jesse Eisenberg doesn't have the acting chops.
I can understand some casting complaints or worries to an extent but the reasons for complaining about Jesse...?
FaptainMerica
FaptainMerica - 5/17/2014, 2:53 AM
Tom Hardy's Bane was very much Bane first of all.

Why do people not understand this casting choice? I HATE Jesse Einsenberg. He's portrays an intelligent, annoying little twerp who is wise well beyond his years.

That's the Lex they're going for. All of us hate Jesse Einsenberg. He's annoying. And that's the point, and why he'll be successful. You will be itching to see his face get pounded in by the end of the film.

Oh, and we really going to act like Loki is intimidating? The guy is literally presented as a whiny, feminine, sexually ambiguous troll. Hardly intimidating. Not threatning at all.
