We found out last year that 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg would take the helm of a new Predator movie, and hard as it may be to believe since we've barely heard a thing about it while it was shooting, production has now wrapped.

Cinematographer Jeff Cutter shared an Instagram post announcing that principal photography has finished, while also confirming that Legion actress Amber Midthunder will play the lead. It seems Dakota Beavers and Dane DiLiegro - a 6 foot 8 basketball player who is most likely playing the Predator - have also joined the cast.

"And that’s a wrap on Skulls! Can’t thank @dannytrs enough for inviting me along on this epic journey and entrusting me to help achieve his vision for this film! Thanks to a great cast led by @ambermidthunder, @dakota_beavers and @dd and much love to a brave Calgary crew for diving headfirst in with us!"

Plot details are few and far between, but we do know that Midthunder will play Kee, "a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior."

Shane Black's underwhelming 2018 effort, The Predator, seemed to put the sci-fi action film series to rest for a while, but it looks like 20th Century Studios/Disney is determined to breath new life into the franchise. The script was written by Patrick Aison, whose producer/writer credits include Kingdom, Jack Ryan and Treadstone.

The first - and by far the best - Predator movie came out back in 1987 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a group of mercenaries who find themselves hunted by a merciless alien creature.
