Justice Society: World War II arrives on streaming platforms on April 27th, 2021, and hits 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray on May 11th, 2021. This next entry in the DC Animated Universe sees The Flash thrust into the midst of an epic battle between Golden Age DC Super Heroes the Justice Society and Nazis for an adventure that definitely doesn't play out the way you might be expecting.

An amazing roster of heroes come together in the movie, with Hourman among the highlights. Played by prolific voice actor Matthew Mercer, the character proves to be a highlight and an integral part of these superhero team. Another iconic role Mercer is known for, however, is bringing a post-Return of the Jedi version of Luke Skywalker to life in hit video game sequel Star Wars Battlefront II

While we had Matthew on the phone to talk about the JSA, we asked what it was like to lend his voice to the Jedi Knight and how it felt to channel Mark Hamill's voice in his performance.

"Oh man, big shoes to fill, I’ll tell you that! It was a little nerve-wracking at first, and I was going, ‘Oh God, oh God, don’t mess this up!’ When you’re picking up with such an iconic character, there’s a facet of wanting to do your best to stay true to that original performance everyone is expecting and hoping for," the actor explains regarding his approach to the role. "As a performer, you also want to make some facets of it your own, so it’s not just putting on something else that exists; you’re still making it feel grounded and real because the moment you’re in is a unique scene for the game. It was a little stressful, but also a huge honour. Once we were on the volume and doing the mo-cap for it, working with the other performers...it was a childhood dream. Getting to say the line, ‘May the Force be With You’ as Luke Skywalker was huge. I’ll remember that for the rest of my days.

While EA's Star Wars plans are unclear, Matthew understandably remains open to the possibility of once again becoming Luke Skywalker. "Oh yeah, they have my number," he teased.

Keep checking back here, as we have plenty more to share about Justice Society: World War II very soon (including our full interview with the Hourman actor a little later this week).

@dracula - A Mark Hamill type is probably cheaper than a Mark Hamill.

@dracula - I doubt it was even ever an option but I’m pretty sure development on this was happening while Last Jedi was filming. Kyle Ren had a part in the story too but isn’t voiced by Driver.

Characters like Rey and Finn have their respective actors reprise the roles but that’s just a few voice lines by comparison.

@MuadDib - Well it would just be another voice acting job, like he does 90% of the time, how expensive can he be when he is always doing it.

@Reeds2Much - I guess but really how expensive can he be. DC is always bringing him in as well as plenty of other companies for shows

Even that Luke looked nothing like how I imagined he would look, he did sound and act very much like I wanted to see from Luke. One of the campaign's highlights.

Mercer never sounded like Mark Hamill to me. But he does sound like my idea of Luke Skywalker. The same way Bruce Greenwood and Kevin Conroy sound nothing alike but they both sound like the idea of Batman.
