BATTLESHIP Director Peter Berg Inquires If Israeli Interviewer is a Motherf**king Draft Dodger!

Click the jump to see what a chickenhawk looks like as the director of the atrocious film Battleship jumps all over an Israeli interviewer for not serving in the military.

Director Peter Berg has never served in the military, but he doesn't let that stop him from having a belligerent tirade about Iran, Israel, and of course badgering his interviewer about being a draft dodger. By the way the Israeli journalist, Jason Danino-Holt, did not dodge the draft he was exempt from the mandatory military service because of a health condition.

Strange, you would figure Peter would be in a good mood with Battleship posting some impressive box office numbers ($170 million) overseas. Either the film is much better when you don't understand it in it's native tongue, or the overseas audience has no taste in film.

Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

Ugh...this director's politics are so superficial. You knwo what? Noone's gonna join the frikkin' army. You know why? because e're sick of wars, especially those the US starts and where it bullies other countries into following them. The US gets its foreign affairs policy dictated by israel, the biggest bully in the Middle east and what does this interviewer have to do with anything? This director made "Battleship" a (apparently) harmless piece of filmmaking...or not? maybe it's just me but films that show the US military as tough guys who never make a wrong decision, who never kill innocent civilians, never commit war crimes are propaganda and dangerous to the US culture because one day the youngest generation now will find itself conscripted into going to war to protect the property of rich men in the US, while defense contractors and the armament industry make money off of the misery of people US citizens don't really think or care about (i.e. people living in the muslim countries of the Middle east).

Personally, I love the look and the interviewers face. It's a look of shock and aw at this guys ignorance. Your there to talk about a MOVIE not about your western political beliefs. Stick to what you know, not what you THINK you know.

Very Bad Things was a pretty good movie though...kind of a cult classic. Ive always like him from when I 1st saw him in Shocker, but with Battleship and now this tirade of ignorance...the man obviously doesnt think things through before he opes his mouth.

Hahaha! I loved this! Not your "average" interview. Peter was obviously in an agressive mood that day, but I'm OK with his politics. Israel needs our support against all those fanatical muslims who want to wipe them off the map. Iran should NOT be allowed to get nuclear weapons. Those Imams are crazy evil.

I didn't see belligerence or a tirade- I thought he was just messing with the guy more than anything else. I certainly wouldn't call it "despicable" in any way, but that's just one man's opinion.

Badgering?!?! I think someone needs to read a dictionary. I expected a big "scene". Granted its not a subject that should come up in an interview about a movie, but the interview starts off with Berg using foul language. Is it Badgering to ask a question with "[frick]" in it? On top of that the interviewer laughs, says "We're not going to talk about that" and the video is cut. If it continued showing Berg actually "badgering" Holt I would agree. This is just a poorly executed interview that went somewhere it shouldn't have have gone. That's it!

As for the comments about the U.S. having crappy taste in movies and referencing "Twilight"...American don't like "Twilight"..love sick girls all over the world like Twilight...the film sucked!

@batfan - you are on a roll today, buddy! You don't know what the hell you are talking about. I am a recruiter for the MN Army National Guard, we have ZERO openings in the state right now. Why? Because an overwhelming number of young, quality, Americans want to serve. I have been overseas, I have seen what we are fighting against first hand. I may agree that it's time to come home, but you my friend should STHU about things you know NOTHING about!

No matter how shitty of a person he is, i have to give credit where it is due. The Rundown has got to be the best action film in existence and i actually liked him in Corky Romano. But he can now go to hell.

This movie was going to be put down by the Left anyway, just like with Battle: Los Angeles they were planning on pissing and moaning because the military were not depicted as raping the alien women or bombing the alien schools. Any movie with the military shown in any kind of positive light is going to be panned by the left, with this they just get to use another excuse.

It's not like Israel is in a perpetual war with neighbors that want to kill their whole society; or like mandatory service is a pretty regular thing around the world, that couldn't possibly be true because the whole world is like the United States where the military is completely useless and should just be disbanded.

I don't know if Berg is a douche or not - but this clip certainly doesn't show it. For one thing, we don't know what preceded this segment. Secondly, the question of whether Israel attacks Iran before they become nuclear is a serious question and one that has plagued the Israelis for years. And thirdly, Berg was obviously ribbing the guy because Israel has a mandatory two year military service - a fact Berg is obviously aware of. This clip seemed more jocular than anything else. This backlash in these comments seem reactionary and ignorant. Just because somebody shows you a small clip from a larger whole and sets it up as being a certain something, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. This article is obviously biased and about as reliable as any Michael Moore movie.

That being said, Battleship doesn’t interest me at all. But I am curious if I could interest Hollywood in a script based on Connect Four.

I don't know how far berg knows about the situation in Israel, but his question is right, the priority
is also right, that and situation with europe's economy. And I read that article about the interviewers "health issues".... suonds very convenient that he got a job at MTV and doesn't need to join his army when the rest of the people in his country does.....
NTOCG- actually two years is for women. men serves for three years.
and HarrisonBergeron- Israel IS in preptual war, there is always countries\teror organizations who TRIES to to kill their whole society, not just wants to. It's not like that people their always live in fear, but thats BECAUSE of their army. Israeli soldiers finds bombs hidden even with little kids- what kind of parent puts a BOMB on his CHILD? Oh and I want to see how you will react when someone is shooting rockets over your house. there wasn't war on US lands since god knows when. we were smart enough to push our wars to the emenies land.

By the way, Berg. When I saw your trailer in front of The Avengers, everybody in the theater laughed at it.
