I read that the budget is actually $190 million so, it should at least make $380 million to be a success.

I'm glad it didn't flop hard like some people were expecting, but tbh I really don't care about a sequel, especially if it is directed by GdT. Give me At the Mountains of Madness and JL Dark.

Great movie(best of the summer), glad to hear it's going to make $400 million plus like it should. Doesn't need a sequel though because it was pretty damn self contained

It's nice to see it doing well in China. I wonder if it will end up doing better in China over North America when it's done at the movie theaters.

I'd be happy if the toys were more easy to find... but a sequel could be fun.

As i said before the movie doesnt need a sequel. Unless del toro comes back to direct a potential sequel then id say go for it.

exe - 8/8/2013, 2:12 PM
The sequel needs a stronger script. They have to hire better writers. The first one is AVERAGE as heck. Only thing it has going for it is the visuals. The dialogue is cliched' as hell and cringe-worthy as [frick].
CrimsonFlash
CrimsonFlash - 8/8/2013, 2:20 PM
I really don't see how this movie needs a sequel. I really enjoyed it but it really seemed to end it. Not sure i'd like a "oh wait look at that we were wrong more monsters are here!" I'm happy its making some money though so similar movies can get made.

looking at you Gundam

One of the best films in a while.

Del Toro is the best in the buz.

Del Toro > Whedon.

It still haven't open in Sweden. If it becomes a succes in our big country, it will add several 100s of dollars into their pockets. Then in the sequel, Baltic Rim, the Scandinavian Scank will hump a few monsters before comitting suicide..

@Beto -- Totally agree with you man... Lol

Hope they make a sequel, this move was so awesome. Loved the robots, the story, the characters, the action, the script, just about everything about it.

Good news .But after Marketing and after Cinema chains take a cut is still Prob over $100,000,000 from breaking even however
Doughdzm
Doughdzm - 8/8/2013, 2:49 PM
@Beto look here the How High reference was joke. and Yes the movie did suck. Can you remember any of the robot names or the drivers. Which character was developed. Real Steel was a better Robot movie. This was trash. The writing sucked there was no emotional connection with any character and the scientist were cooky. Exception the father was pretty straightforward

Kyos - 8/8/2013, 2:51 PM
It was far from perfect, but it was alright. Make a sequel with the same visual qualities and a better script and it might end up being among my favourite movies!

RamonSuarez

The major problem Pacific Rim had was that none of the Kaiju were personalized. They were just generic behemoth monsters from another dimension who were expendable. They need to find a way to get the Jaegers to fight something like a Godzilla, Monster Zero, or Cthullu type entity for a final showdown.
