That is sure a shocker Luc Besson while having an interview with THE PLAYLIST he expressed an interest to make an another science fiction film.

Luc Besson directed THE FIFTH ELEMENT starring Bruce Willis,Milla Jovovich,Gary Oldman and Ian Holm. PLAYLIST asked Besson if he would be interested to do a sequel to that movie

Luc Besson expressed the frustation he had when he was filming The Fifth Element by saying

"I was a little bit frustrated because I made the film right before all the new effects arrived. So when I did the film it was all blue screen, six hours, dots on the wall, takes forever to do one shot. Now, basically, you put the camera on your shoulder and then you run and then you add a couple of dinosaurs and spaceships. And I was so frustrated because it was not so easy at the time. So I always think to myself that I would avenge one day and use all the new tools to do a sci-fi film for sure."

The most burning question from PLAYLIST was if it would be connected directly to THE FIFTH ELEMENT "I don't know if it would be directly connected but it would be the same area and the same genre. So for me it would be connected even if the stories had nothing to do with each other."

The director also talked about his upcoming super hero film ''Lucy'' starring Scarlett Johanson and Morgan Freeman which has started production two weeks ago.

I am excited if Luc Besson offers us an another science fiction epic the guy never fails to impress. Are you guys up for a new Luc Besson sci fi film. THE FAMILLY starring Robert De Niro along with Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones opens in September 13th.

In the colorful future, a cab driver unwittingly becomes the central figure in the search for a legendary cosmic weapon to keep Evil and Mr Zorg at bay.

Why is reboot the answer to everything these days?

What I mean is everyone these days is like "let's reboot this" or "we should remake that". Why not write an original screen play?

I'm not a retard. I understand that production companies do sequels, remakes, and reboots to make money. But you cannot convince me that regurgitating the same thing over and over is the only way to make money in the movie industry. If a movie is well made it doesn't matter if it is somehow related to something audiences have seen before. Take Avatar for example. Yes, the plot is borrowed from about 10 other movies, but audiences had no idea what Avatar was before it came out. And it became the highest grossing film of all time.

No rebbot, it's an excellent movie and it still stands up pretty well by today's standards. Besson has a very unique sensi ilty when it comes to his movies, and that is very present n the 5th Element. Expanding the universe is a good idea, maybe some nods towards Leeloo ( when has Mila looked as hot?), the Mangalores and Zorg indstries to establish its place, but make it a new story. Maybe starring Audrey Tautou?

And yes, remakes/reimaginings show a lack of creativity. Studios tend to create franchises rather than investing in new ideas, simply because it's more likely a sequel/reboot will make more money whereas a new idea has no financial precedent.

All the best talent nowadays is writing for tv anyway. Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Walking Dead, GoT (though an adaptation), Homeland, hannibal, boardwalk empire, etc...

That movie is great.
Need more from that universe.
Bring back Bruce Willis as Corben Dallas & Chris Tucker as Ruby Rod.
Mills Jovovich can cameo too.

He did an amazing job with what he had. I'd love to see a sequel, perhaps just a tom Clancy approach. Just make another movie in the same world, universe, possibly even in the same time period. Have nothing to do with the previous characters, or mention them, possibly grant them minor cameos. Just make a completely new film. Think of Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Act, Hunt of Red October, etc. All are part of the same universe, based on Jack Ryan...

Besson could easily just make another film with a completely new title.
