Director Nicolas Winding Refn Talks BARBARELLA
It's been quite some time since we last heard anything about the small screen remake of the classic 1968 movie starring Jane Fonda, but Drive and Only God Forgives director Nicolas Winding Refn has now offered an update on the project. Read on for details!
Talking to Vulture at the Cannes Film Festival about his latest movie, Only God Forgives (the trailer for which can be viewed below), Nicolas Winding Refn confirmed that he is still hard at work on the small screen adaptation of Barbarella. The Drive helmer is attached to direct the series, while well-known James Bond collaborators Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were brought on to write the project. "We are just writing it still," Refn confirmed when asked for an update. "I kind of went back to the original comic, and really began to close my eyes and fantasize about women in outer space and it looked pretty good." As for whether he has anyone in mind to replace Jane Fonda, he said: "No, I haven’t started casting yet." There's still no word on a possible release date or even which network Barbarella will air on, but be sure to stay tuned to CBM for further updates.
