We're sure you don't need a reminder of the stir a certain Dune: Part Two popcorn bucket caused around the time the sequel was released, and we now have a first look at the collectible holders for Part Three.
Yes, the Sandworm is back (and he's brought a friend), and honestly, the new color scheme arguably makes these vessels even more... suggestive-looking.
The previous container's design went viral with a barrage of unsavory jokes and memes, and ended up getting so much attention that SNL even ran a sketch about it.
“The AMC Sandworm popcorn bucket for Dune: Part Two became a viral phenomenon, and we knew that Dune fans would have high expectations for what came next,” said Hank Green, SVP, Food & Beverage, AMC Theatres. “From the moment we started planning the Dune: Part Three collectibles, our goal was to exceed those fan expectations. The Sandworm Thumper and Double Sandworm collectibles take the experience to the next level with designs straight from the movie.”
Director Denis Villeneuve shares his reaction to the hullabaloo during a 2024 interview with The New York Times.
“I thought that the bucket was an insane marketing idea,” Villeneuve shared. “I laughed so much. It is so out there. I don’t know who designed it, but they’re a bit of a genius. I’m at peace with the bucket.”
Check out the buckets and other tie-in theatrical merch below, along with the recently released final trailer.
