Variety's report on Emma Stone possibly joining the cast of Craig Gillespie's Pride And Prejudice And Zombies certainly made it sound like it was all but a done deal, but according to Deadline, the very much in demand young actress has decided to take a break from Zombies for a while..
Emma Stone passed on the heroine role in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Lionsgate's adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel that mixes the 1813 Jane Austen classic with a legion of bloodthirsty zombies. While talent gets offered and passes on movies every day, Internet reports now trumpet offers, even if the journalists have no idea whether the actor is at all interested in doing the movie. In this case, an offer was made but it never got to the negotiation stage, I'm told.
So this report was premature, I see nothing wrong with "trumpeting offers" as long as the report makes it clear that they are unaware if interest has been shown. Anyway, Lionsgate's search for their Elizabeth Bennett continues.
