"All Empires Fall."

Apple TV+ has announced that its epic sci-fi adaptation, Foundation, is set to return to the streaming service for its second season on July 14, and the first full trailer is now online.

Based on Isaac Asimov's seminal series of novels, the first season followed a mathematician named Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) who discovers a way to predict the future using his equations. When he foresaw the imminent fall of the Galactic Empire (no, not that one), he incurred the wrath of a group of emperor clones known as the Cleons led by Brother Day (Lee Pace).

Season 2 will pick up over a century after the season 1 finale, with tension mounting throughout the galaxy. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy the Empire from within. Hari, Gaal, and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself.

The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire. The monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.

Check out the trailer and poster below, and let us know what you think.

Harris and Pace will reprise their respective roles, along with fellow returning cast members Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton and Terrence Mann. New recruits include Isabella Laughland (Brother Constant), Kulvinder Ghir (Poly Verisof), Ella-Rae Smith (Queen Sareth of Cloud Dominion), Holt McCallany (Warden Jaegger Fount), Rachel House (Tellem Bond), Nimrat Kaur (Yanna Seldon), Ben Daniels (Bel Riose), and Dimitri Leonidas (Hober Mallow).

Have this show sitting on a hard drive collecting dust unwatched, I hear it's good. Sometimes there's just too much prestige tv

@UncleHarm1 - *edit* Sometimes you'd rather rewatch every Evil Dead movie for the memberberries than experience something original

Lee Pace is an extraordinary actor. It's just sad him being gay resulted in him pretty much getting blacklisted from Hollywood.

@CoHost - is that true?

So many people do not have access to Apple TV. I am one of them.

Too many streaming channels. Consolidation & implosion will happen soon enough.

@DocSpock - Apple is in a similar place as Amazon. The streaming service is bundled with other services. I imagine that most people subscribed to Apple TV have it because they have iPhones and have an overall Apple media bundle. Most people who have Amazon Prime have it for shopping not TV. My guess is those huge tech companies will not be the first to fall, it’ll certainly be Paramount+.

@mountainman -

You can't even get Apple TV on a majority of smart TVs. I would never watch TV or movies on my freakin' phone.

Can't wait for season 2. Epic sci-fi storytelling, visuals and acting. I have Apple on a Firestick for my TV. Good cheap option.
