Is GHOSTBUSTERS 3 Going To Be An Animated Film?

The website, Bloody-Disgusting, is reporting that Sony and Columbia Pictures are planning to move forward with a Ghostbusters 3 movie, but this time the film will be animated, not live-action.

<>"Sony is looking to do Ghostbusters 3 as an animated film, a source exclusively reveals to Bloody Disgusting. This was the original plan back in 2007, which eventually resulted in the incredible 2009 video game." - Bloody-Disgusting.com

But another website, Coming Soon, refutes these claims, "We talked to the studio, which said that the report is not true. They continue to develop a new live-action version and there is no animated movie in the works."

By now we all know the story of Ghostbusters 3, but let's do a quick recap for fun. All of the original cast members would like to make the film, except Bill Murray. The actor has been handed new script after new script and just won't commit to the project. For some odd reason Murray is deciding to be picky about the project even though he did Garfield and Garfield 2 during this period.

As for the plot, according to Dan Aykroyd it will center around the old team teaching a bunch of young recruits how to be ghostbusters. The plan seems to be hand off the franchise to this younger generation.

MrMxyzptlk @ Yeah man damn straight, with or without Murray, it needs to be done.

Wtf is wrong with Murray though, if it wasn't for GHOSTBUSTERS he wouldn't be half as big as he is today, got some juicy roles back then if you look. Time 4 pay back!

I suppose money talks though, hopefully.

One of the main problems with GhostBusters II was how kiddie-oriented it was. An animated film doesn't bode wel. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised with The Real Ghostbusters cartoon.

Bill Murray is smart to stay away from this. Its just some smartass dudes running around with metal backpacks.
Ackroyd and Ramis need to get real jobs if they need money.

That's a relief! I don't want to see a Ghostbusters film on the big screen be animated.

@LEEE I love you, man... But doing GB3 without Bill Murray is crazy talk. :P

I want to see another sequel that is as good as the original. I don't think that could happen without Bill Murray's involvement.

If they can't do it right, then they shouldn't do it at all.

@DukeAcureds That cartoon was awesome! Extreme Ghosbusters wasn't as good, but it was still fun to watch.
