JJ Abrams Wants Jonathan Rhys Meyers For STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

El Mayimbe of the website, Latino Review, is reporting that the "Bend It Like Beckham" star, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, has landed a role in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII. Come voice your opinions.

El Mayimbe has been hearing through the grapevine that the Irish actor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, is in negotiations to be the lead in Star Wars: Episode VII. The film will be directed by J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek Into Darkness"), who in the past worked with Jonathan on 2006's Mission Impossible: III.

As for the role he will be playing, no information of that sort has surfaced.

Jonathan will next be seen starring in NBC's Dracula. Although, most of you will recognize him from playing King Henry VIII on The Tudors.

Interesting. I've always been interested to see more of the man's work (he rarely gets any spotlight), so I'm fine with that. He's surely got the looks for a charming bad guy...

If this is true and they use the characters from the EU (NOT the stories from the EU, however), I think he could be a good choice for Ben Skywalker, Luke's son.

@LittleDanglyThing It most likely will be, if they're focusing on the EU in the new movies, or at least the characters from it.

It'll most likely have Jaina Solo as the main lead, with Jacen Solo, Anakin Solo, and Ben Skywalker being supporting characters, along with the original cast (for the most part) being there.

LEVITIKUZ: No offense taken, and I partially agree with you. But...well, a news is still a news! Despite being regarded a "common sense," I believe there was still another possibility of them not returning initially, as there are numerous ways that the movie can go down with - revealing that Ford will return (and subsequently, Hamill and Fisher) has now eliminated that other possibility.

Him as Jacen Solo would be cool. Plus, as I've said before, he's got the looks for a fitting antagonist, so that would open a good chance for his descend into Darth Caedus.

Hmm. I've only seen him in a few films but J.J. knows what he's doing. From what I can remember he was kinda great in what he did in MI:3.

Im guessing this guy is playing Lukes Son in the movie. After watching Star Trek Into Darkness i have more faith JJ will give us a good Star Wars movie in the 21st Century.

I also think Benedict Cumberbatch should play a sith lord in Star Wars Episode VII. If he can take down a group of klingons by himself, i can just imagine what he be like with a lightsaber.

they aren't going to use characters or plotlines from the expanded universe. They wont use the likes of Mara Jade, the solo twins, the yuuzhan vong etc. Though it would be cool, they'll most likely make up new characters for the series.

i really like Rhys Meyers as an actor and i feel he hasn't gotten that breakout role. i think he will do a great job if this ends up true
