Deadline is reporting that Universal's upcoming Jurassic World sequel has added Sorry for Your Loss breakout Mamoudou Athie in a lead role. Further details are currently unavailable.

He's the first new addition to the ensemble cast, joining Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler) and Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), who are all reprising their roles from prior Jurassic adventures. Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood) and BD Wong (Henry Wu) are also rumored to appear, but have yet-to-be confirmed.

After sitting out Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Colin Trevorrow is back in the director's chair with a screenplay he co-wrote alongside Emily Carmichael (Battle at Big Rock; Pacific Rim: Uprising). Production has been confirmed to begin in February 2020.

Athie currently stars opposite Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers: Endgame) on Facebook's Sorry for Your Loss, and his credits also include, but are not limited to, UnderwaterThe Front Runner, Unicorn Store, The Circle, The Detour and The Get Down.

Jurassic World 3 hits theaters June 11, 2021.

I think the future of the Jurassic Park franchise should be to have a core team of humans who decide that they will protect the dinosaurs from the outside world on an island. Each new film would focus on their survival, people accidentally landing on the island and simultaneously the incursions of people who want to exploit the island. Kind of like a more serious Land of the Lost which they made a series out of. Otherwise this franchise will go by the wayside.

Why do people dislike The Lost World? I found the story interesting, a very much different take on man vs beast and the theme kicked ass.
