Deadline is reporting that Universal's upcoming
Jurassic World sequel has added
Sorry for Your Loss breakout Mamoudou Athie in a lead role. Further details are currently unavailable.
He's the first new addition to the ensemble cast, joining Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler) and Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), who are all reprising their roles from prior Jurassic adventures. Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood) and BD Wong (Henry Wu) are also rumored to appear, but have yet-to-be confirmed.
After sitting out
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,
Colin Trevorrow is back in the director's chair with a screenplay he co-wrote alongside Emily Carmichael (
Battle at Big Rock;
Pacific Rim: Uprising). Production has been confirmed to begin in February 2020.
Athie currently stars opposite Elizabeth Olsen (
