Netflix has released the first trailer for the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous animated series, which is set to debut in the streaming service on September 18.

The show is set during the events of the first Jurassic World, and follows a group of teenagers who win the chance to explore a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar before the park has officially opened. The dinosaurs break loose (of course), and they're forced to band together to avoid being... torn to pieces and eaten?

Yeah, the animation style and tone seem a little at odds with the premise here!

Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, Frank Marshall, Scott Kreamer, and Aaron Hammersley all serve as executive producers on the series, which features the voices of Paul-Mikél Williams (Westworld), Jenna Ortega (You), Ryan Potter (Big Hero 6), Raini Rodriguez (Bunk’d), Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs), and Kausar Mohammed (Silicon Valley) as the kids in peril.

"Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. So an inbetweenquel? So that means we know the kids just escape right? They arent killing that main dinosaur because thats clearly the indominus rex from the first movie, and we know what happened to that. Not to mention if these kids did more than survive we definitely would've heard about it in fallen kingdom. And on top of that we cant see the dinosaurs do any kills since its a kids show. Seriously, this just feels like a cash grab.

@Origame - Honestly, what doesn't feel like a cash grab since the second movie?

If there aren't going to be any kills, since it's a show for kids, what the heck is the point of this?

This kinda looks like a promo for some mobile game. And not in a good way.

Why don't they just do a show where for once the park is open and doesn't suffer a breakout or shutdown or whatever

Let's be honest for a second. Creating a summer camp for tweens adjacent to a bunch of carnivorous lizard that always seem to break out is pretty much par for the course decision making for Jurassic Park's board of directors.

Cute how they decided to use circa 1993 CG for this too. Really gets an authentic feel.

Didn't the Island get destroyed in the second film

@gordonh7 - This takes place during the events of the fourth film (basicalyl we are revisiting the events of Jurassic World, but from other characters point of view), so the events of Fallen Kingdom has not occured yet

honestly what's the point of this we know that the kids are going to make out alive so all tension is gone.
