Jurassic World Dominion has been billed as the epic finale of the Jurassic franchise, though the blockbuster's 31% Rotten Tomatoes score points to critics not quite buying into Colin Trevorrow's vision for a conclusion. Moviegoers appear to feel differently, especially as the threequel boasts an 80% Audience Score and even nabbed an A- CinemaScore after opening in theaters.
While we're not getting into spoilers here, it's impossible to imagine Dominion being where this franchise ends, and Universal Pictures no doubt has big plans for this series moving forward.
A $142 million opening weekend pretty much guarantees another movie, but should you stick around through the credits for a hint about what comes next? Unfortunately, Jurassic World Dominion does not have a post-credits scene.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom did have one, of course, though the difference there was that it was setting the stage for a third chapter. As of right now, there are no plans for a Jurassic World 4. While we're sure Universal does have ideas about where to take this franchise next, the property being put to bed for a time before returning in a new form obviously makes the most sense.
This threequel doesn't offer any hints as to what that might look like. On the plus side, it does serve as a mostly satisfying farewell to both the original and new cast members, and we wouldn't be against seeing another theme park setting or even heading into the future for a post-apocalyptic story where dinosaurs are once again the dominant species.
Jurassic World Dominion is now playing in theaters!
