JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION Epic Five-Minute IMAX Special Prologue Officially Unleashed

After teasing fans over the summer, Universal has finally released the five-minute special prologue for Jurassic World: Dominion online, giving us our first official look at the epic blockbuster!

Universal has released The Prologue, a special five-minute advance preview to the highly-anticipated Jurassic World Dominion, helmed by director and co-writer Colin Trevorrow.

In an unexpected twist, the studio has also revealed that this prologue will not actually be featured in the film itself, instead serving as its own short film teasing "The Prologue serves as the beginning of a story that will be continued in theaters next summer."

The five-minute preview initally debuted over the summer when it screened with IMAX showings of Universal's F9: The Fast Saga, and was capped with a mini-trailer with more footage at the end, but that part has been removed in this updated look, suggesting a trailer is likely right around the corner.

Offering just a small taste of what's to come, The Prologue already features seven new species of dinosaurs that have never been seen before, which is a promising start for Dominion, a film that is expected to set the record for most dinosaurs in a Jurassic film ever.

While plot details remain heavily under lock-and-key, the film recently completed post-production and, if the past is any indicator, then the official full-length trailer should be with us very soon, as the studio will likely want to attach it to the launch of Sony and Marvel Studios' latest magnum opus Spider-Man: No Way Home

The star-studded cast of Dominion will feature Jurassic alums Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), 3x Golden Globe-nominee Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Academy Award-winner Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Academy Award-nominee Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), Jake Johnson (Lowery Cruthers), Omar Sy (Barry Sembane), Justice Smith (Franklin Webb), Daniella Pineda (Zia Rodriguez), Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood), and BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu).

Newcomers to the franchise include Mamoudou Athie (Sorry for Your Loss), DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Scott Haze (Venom). Details on their roles are currently being kept under wraps. Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man) has also joined the cast as Dodgson.

Jurassic World: Dominion is slated to roar into theaters June 10, 2022.

Hoping this one gets closer to the original and Lost World for me.

The first two of this series were not good imo, but am hoping this is great! It looks visually stunning already.

@Menks123 - the first Jurassic world was awesome I thought. Second one.. not so much. But Lost World was pretty bad too.Huge let down. This is gonna be awesome I bet.

I will watch this movie but none of the movies that came after the original are great,I would say overall average with some good moments.

Not getting my hopes up for this, previous 2 movies sucked

I, Max, approve of the IMAX format on general principal.

As most people said previous 2 films sucked! Why? No Horror. They show everything too often and don't leave room for suspense. Go back to basics!

@PC04 - What? That’s the main reason I enjoyed Fallen Kingdom. The third act in the mansion is the most horror we’ve gotten from the series since the RV scene in 2

@Ha1frican - Sure that Raptor (indo raptor?) coming through the window was meant to be "scary". I honestly may not posses some of the technical verbage to convey my point properly. The older films (especially the original) play out more like a Horror film with suspense and tension. The shots are tighter(?) in those tense moments. (I.E. The kids in the car when the TREX attacks, the Kitchen Scene with the kids, the Resaerch RV getting pushed off the cliff and the T-rex's approach). The new movies are shot much more an Action film featuring dinosaurs.

Looks good🤷🏻‍♂️ Jurassic films will always be a guilty pleasure

I'm really not sold on the CGI here. It just doesn't pack the same weight as a practical dinosaur.

The T-Rex in front of the screen projector looked cool though.

@bkmeijer - CG is a part and parcel of Jurassic Park as much as animatronics. And ill have to disagree, I thought the CG work here was more than stellar. That oviraptor looked stunning.

@SnideCut - I'll admit the CGI looks great, but its more the choice of CGI I don't like. I rather see animatronics be the basics, and then CGI used to do the rest. Makes the dinos feel more real

Unlike many I enjoyed the last 2 so I’m down for this. That having been said I’m a little more worried now after having seen this bc there’s already 2 dumb moments in the last 45 seconds. First the people in the truck bed seemingly not reacting to the very loud and frequent screams is incredibly dumb, and secondly I don’t care how much that copter is moving I don’t buy that Chris Pratt’s character who is straight up action hero in the last two would miss something the size of a t-Rex with a tranq the size of a coke can from that far away.

@Ha1frican - I liked them quite a bit too. The midpoint change in the second one took me by surprise, but I think in hindsight it worked.

Didn't saw that was Pratt in the clip after you pointed it out. No way would he (or even the military) have such a hard job capturing dinos.

So they’re pulling some Alien: Covenant shit?

As impressive as the cretaceous era prologue is, I firmly believe it's a mistake. All the scientific inaccuracies and artistic liberties in this series had been easily excused by the fact that they were genetically altered imitations of dinosaurs, as opposed to real pure-blooded dinosaurs. Now they've gone and done a scene where they can't use that excuse, and it's the most blatantly inaccurate 5 minutes in the entire franchise. At this point it may as well have shown us cavemen fighting a dragon for [frick]s sake.

Lets hope that this film is nowhere near as awful as the dino shitpile that was Fallen Kingdom. The film was attrocious, by far the worst in the franchise.

Also, how do you lose sight of a giant T-Rex? Dumb

@HeavyMetal4Life - It went stealth, and even managed to go back through the trees WITHOUT any of them moving (so it must have shrunk in size).

This is some f#cking incredible dino!

damn what a waste of vfx budget leading up to the movie theater scene.

The Cretaceous period looked cool, but I hope they show in the film how the soldiers in the helicopter lose sight of a T REX and when they do see it how do they miss it with a tranq gun? Was pretty let down by the last movie

Oddly, I still don't think they look as realistic as the very first Jurassic Park. That movie really managed to capture the weight and the presence of the dinos. Every sequel since hasn't really fully recaptured that, which is odd given the advancements in VFX. I think it's the movement of the dinos in this clip. It still looks very CGI.
