JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION Starts Strong Overseas As New Poster & TV Spots Are Released; Extended Cut Teased

And here we go! Ahead of its domestic debut next weekend, Jurassic World: Dominion is already off to a roaring start internationally, and is expected to gross over $45 million by the end of the weekend.

Universal's hotly-awaited Jurassic World: Dominion is off to a strong start overseas, and is expected to gross over $45 million from 15 foreign markets, including Mexico, Brazil, Italy, and Korea, which keeps it on track with the past performances of 2015's Jurassic World ($47.3M) and 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($59.8M).

It's already claimed the fourth-biggest opening day ever in Korea with $6 million, and given the country its highest opening day since the pandemic began.

Jurassic World: Dominion is forecasted to open somewhere in the $160 million to $210 million range domestically next weekend, which would earn it the second-highest opening weekend in the franchise's history, behind only Jurassic World ($208.8M). There's also a strong possibility the Colin Trevorrow-directed sequel will open near the higher end of that estimate, due to the studio pushing this installment as the final chapter in the entire franchise along with the heavy marketing focus on the returning legacy cast members.

In related news, franchise newbie DeWanda Wise seemingly teased that an extended of the film may exist. Speaking to Collider about creating her character's backstory, she explained a particular deleted moment that she'd like to see the light of day,

She had this moment, and it’s probably gonna be in the extended cut, maybe, we’ll see, but she has this beautiful pair of brass knuckles and we have this entire backstory of this adventure that she had gone on in South Africa — [laughs] Girl, I love backstories! — where she procured these knuckles. Because a lot of Kayla has this kind of Indiana Jones, she’s been everywhere. Some of her travels are for work and she goes on them because she has to go on them, and some are just for her.

It should be noted that none of the previous five films received any sort of extended cut, so it's probably unlikely Dominion will get one, especially since the film already runs 146 minutes. But Universal did release an extended version of Halloween Kills for the Blu-ray fairly recently, so it's something that can't necessarily be ruled out.

Either way, whether it's just deleted scenes or a full-fledged extended cut, fans should have a lot to look forward to when the blockbuster film roars onto home media later this year.

The star-studded cast of the Jurassic World: Dominion will feature Jurassic alums Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), 3x Golden Globe-nominee Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Academy Award-winner Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Academy Award-nominee Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu), Omar Sy (Barry Sembane), Justice Smith (Franklin Webb), Daniella Pineda (Zia Rodriguez), and Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood).

Newcomers to the franchise include DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It) as Kayla Watts, Mamoudou Athie (Sorry for Your Loss) as Ramsay Cole, Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man) as Dr. Lewis Dodgson, Scott Haze (Venom) as Rainn Delacourt, Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Soyona Santos, Kristoffer Polaha (Wonder Woman 1984) as Wyatt Huntley, Elva Trill (Starstruck) as Charlotte Lockwood, Dimitri Thivalos in an undisclosed role, and Varada Sethu (Now You See Me 2) as Shira.

Jurassic World: Dominion roars into theaters June 10!

This summer, experience the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar®-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe. From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.
