JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Roars To $15.3M Preview Night; Stomping Toward $133M+ Opening Weekend

J.A. Bayona's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is off to a strong start domestically after scoring a $15.4 million preview night and is now currently on track for a $133 million opening weekend.

Universal's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is currently meeting expectations at the domestic box office and is on track for a stellar opening weekend of approximately $133 million from 4,475 locations.

The blockbuster J.A. Bayona-directed sequel has already earned an impressive $15.3 million from Thursday night previews, which is just a slight step down from the 18.5 million earned by Jurassic World in 2015. Friday's total one-day haul, which includes preview night, should reach upwards of $54 million.

While the sequel was always unlikely to reach the same heights as its predecessor, which opened to a then record-shattering $208.8 million opening before ultimately finishing with a jaw-dropping $1.6 billion worldwide, this is still an extremely promising start on an estimated $170 million production budget.

Internationally, the blockbuster has already earned well over $466 million from 51 foreign markets, including a massive $170 million from China. If current projections hold as expected, the film should comfortably cross the $600 million milestone marker by the end of the weekend, if not sooner.
Additionally, with no major competition until Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp hits on July 6, expect Fallen Kingdom to have a strong run through the end of June and well into July.

Meanwhile, Disney/Pixar's Incredibles 2 should finish its second frame with approximately $80 million, bringing its total domestic collection to $350 million. Worldwide, the Brad Bird-directed animated feature has earned over $344.5 million.

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. Gross...

Also, I'm really beginning to dislike anything that Chris Pratt does sans Star-Lord...

Also, also...I think this is the first real, opinionated comment I've made on here.

I saw this for free at a sneak preview and I wanted a refund. By the end of it, I wanted all of the human characters to die in painful ways, especially that idiot Claire and the freakish girl-child-thing. At least one of those two should have gotten shot in the head in the last scene, maybe both. Why don't the dinosaurs ever eat the annoying children? That's what I want to see.

The only way I'll watch another sequel if all of the people who lived through this one get devoured by a pack of Utahraptors. There's gotta be lots of blood and gore, and Claire needs to take ten long minutes to die. And I won't pay to see it, even then.

Saw it today. Meh. It was fine. Would probably give it a 5/10. The writinf was atrocious but it’s dinosaurs.

Will this make a higher % of its predecessor's box office than The Last Jedi did?
