Variety is reporting that Toby Jones and Rafe Spall are both currently in talks with Universal Pictures & Amblin Entertainment to join the cast of the sequel to their 2015 mega-blockbuster Jurassic World. Details on their roles weren't provided.
Jones & Spall are the first two major casting announcements for the hotly-awaited film, which is expected to head into production sometime early next year. When their deals close, the duo will join a cast headlined by returning stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The report also notes that the producers are expected to begin testing for two additional key roles fairly soon, possibly even later this week.
The acclaimed J.A. Bayona has been tapped to helm the feature with a script from Colin Trevorrow & Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall, Pat Crowley, and Belén Atienza are on-board as producers. In addition to scripting duties, Trevorrow will also serve as an executive producer alongside Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg.
Jones is probably best known for his roles as the voice of Dobby in the Harry Potter film series and as Dr. Arnim Zola in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making his debut in Captain America: The First Avenger before returning for extended cameos in Captain America: The Winter Solider and ABC's Agent Carter.
Spall has yet to dabble in the world of comic book movies, but is best known to audiences for his roles in films and television such as Life of Pi, Prometheus, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End and Black Mirror.
