Universal Studios Hollywood has announced plans to revamp Jurassic Park - The Ride with elements based on the new Jurassic World film franchise. The countdown to extinction for the original ride, which will close on September 3, 2018, began today as the company has plans to debut the "all-new technologically-advanced epic adventure" in 2019.

The new Jurassic World Ride will still draw from the favorite elements of the original ride, but will feature "never-before-seen dinosaurs, enhanced storytelling, lush scenic design, a new color scheme and uncompromised state-of the art technology." Universal released a teaser for the announcement, but it's unclear exactly what elements from the new franchise will be featured in the updated ride. For what it's worth, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom introduces the terrifying new hybrid Indoraptor.

In 2019, life finds a way with the new, high-tech Jurassic World ride, based on the blockbuster film franchise. Coming to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Universal Studios Hollywood is currently hosting a "Countdown to the Extinction" campaign, inviting guests to experience the ride before its transformation to the new Jurassic World Ride begins later this year.

So it’s basically going to be the old river ride with new props and animatronics?

I remember riding this ride about a year after it opened. It was pretty sweet… 20 years ago. Sadly it’s sort of fallen into disrepair. A lot of the effects stopped working years ago.

@santoanderson - Really? That sucks to hear. We used to go to Universal once or twice a year and we would go on that ride more than any of the others. We haven't been back there since the beginning of 2013, though.
