According to Deadline, Legendary Pictures have turned to Flight writer John Gatins to pen the next draft of Skull Island. The movie is set to be released on November 4th, 2016 (the same date as Doctor Strange, so Legendary may want to consider moving) and Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing. The Avengers and Thor: The Dark World star Tom Hiddleston meanwhile is attached to take on a leading role. The script was originally written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla), but Gatins is an Academy Award winning writer, so the project is clearly in good hands. What do you guys think?

And a week before Sinister Six, and two weeks before Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

Curse you Hunger Games for making November a popular month for movies!

So is this a reboot? Or is it a prequel? Can't wait, I'll be seeing them both. Love me some Kong!

Reboot, with large speculation that it will lead to King Kong vs Godzilla

if Benedict Cumberbatch is Dr. Strange, then November 4 will be the battle between two of Tumblr's favorite Britain's with him and Hiddleston

This is a reboot and King Kong was reported (from the comic-con teaser) to be much larger than ever before.

Really sounds like they're setting up a King Kong Vs Godzilla film since both properties are owned by Legendary (who also own Pacific Rim which a VS with them would kick ass).

As soon as Legendary got the rights to Godzilla and moved to Universal I knew Godzilla vs. King Kong was Inevitable.

Good to see Hiddleston getting more roles outside the MCU!

I hope they do the same thing with the Godzilla sequel. the man has decent ideas but needs someone to finesse the execution. The prequel comic had the same issues the movie did.

I just hope that they make him look more like a beast-god, as in the 1933 version. Peter Jackson's version was just a big gorilla. Huge, yes, but that was the only thing that was special about him.
