THE MATRIX 4 Director Set To Reteam With SENSE8 Star Eréndira Ibarra For The Sci-Fi Sequel

Following the casting of fellow Sense8 star Toby Onwumere last month, a new report reveals Eréndira Ibarra (Ingobernable) has also joined the cast of Lana Wachowski's The Matrix 4 in an undisclosed role.

After over a decade, a fourth installment to The Matrix franchise is officially in works, bringing back director Lana Wachowski and several familiar faces, including Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.

However, along with the return of stars from the original trilogy of films, The Matrix 4 will also bring in a fair amount of new faces. Currently we know Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist) and Toby Onwumere (Sense8) are among the new cast members, but thanks to a new report from Deadline, we’ve learned another Sense8 alum has joined the ensemble.

According to the report, Eréndira Ibarra has officially signed on to the sci-fi sequel. There are currently no details on her role in the film, but this will mark Ibarra’s second collaboration with Sense8 co-creator Lana Wachowski.

No release date has been set for The Matrix 4, but the cast will also be comprised of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jonathan Groff, and Neil Patrick Harris.

The cast is looking very good so far, I'm very interested to see what they do with this sequel.

Does this really need to be made? Personally I don't think so. I'm afraid it will go the way of terminator dark fate. I say this because the story is over. Unless they pull another TROS and have the machines become the villains again. Having Smith come back to try and reinfect the Matrix would also be very TROS. All I can do is hope for the best.

The originals were great movies with so many layers and depth. I hope they don't defile them.

@Spock0Clock - season 1 and 2 yes. Season 3 was rushed for my taste but as a whole great show.

Off-topic: Tyler Perry's new movie is so bad there's a shot where you can clearly see the script in front of one of the actors.

@Spock0Clock - If he hadn't made one or two semi-passable but forgotten movies, he would be this generation's Ed Wood.

Off topic:It's offical! Rise of Palpatine is now the worst reviewed movie in the entire main Star Wars series. Congratulations on beating out The Phantom Menance! 😝https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_wars_the_rise_of_skywalker

The worst reviewed Star Wars movie is actually Star Wars The Clone Wars which has an 18% on Rotten Tomatoes with over 100 reviews. I bet everyone forgot that movie happened.

They really, really need to bring Fishburne back somehow.

The Morpheus-Neo dynamic was one of the best parts of the trilogy. One of my major criticisms of the films is that it leaned so heavy on the love story with Neo and Trinity when I wish it would have pushed harder on Morpheus and Neo.

I don't really understand why people are exited about this fourth Matrix movies. I really loved the first one, but the sequels were pretty bad, besides some good ideas and cool moments. When Matrix 4 was announced I saw everyone on Twitter being hyped, and I was just like why? The story ended, not that greatly I might add, and now people are exited for more? This is going to be like Terminator Genysis, a half baked reboot/sequel that might even screw up the legacy of the original movies. Not exited for this at all.
