You know being the first humans to come into contact with an alien creature seems like a pretty big deal, but in the theatrical cut of
Prometheus it was treated like no big thang. Add in the fact that the discovery was made by scientists, you'd have to think they would know the value of such a moment, but for some odd reason they are ho-hum. The clip below finally shows the characters drinking in the importance of the situation.
It just makes you scratch your head yet again as another key piece of footage was inexplicably cut from the film. So far I've seen at least three other deleted scenes that would've helped flesh out the movie. And the blame has to rest upon the film's editor,
Pietro Scalia, who is also responsible for mangling Marc Webb's
The Amazing Spider-Man. Now I haven't seen the deleted scenes for that film just yet, but we all know that major storylines were axed, and you could clearly tell with the clunky edit.
In the distant future, two superpowers control Earth and fight each other for all the solar system's natural resources. When one side dispatches a team to a distant planet to terraform it for human colonization, the team discovers an indigenous race of bio-mechanoid killers. Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Prometheus, is directed by Ridley Scott and stars: Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, and Michael Fassbender. The film will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD October 9th.
