New Caprica Stills Reveal An Old BSG Crew Member

Some new character stills over at io9 reveal that Luciana Carro(Kat in Battlestar Galactica) will be part of the cast in the upcoming Caprica series...

Kat was a recurring character in BSG up until the end of season 2 when she sacrificed herself to save her crew mates. Her past was never really revealed. All we knew was that she was involved with some shady dealings back on Caprica(the planet) involving drugs. Was she a Cylon? The fact that the actress who played her, Luciana Carro is popping up in Caprica certainly suggests she may have been, although apparently she is playing a different character called Pryah, who works for Daniel Graystone. So who knows..but I doubt its a coincidence.

Here is the pic, as well as some others. You can see the whole lot of them over at io9 by clicking on the link.

For any other Kat fans out there;)

Cheers Lee. Well pooch, you do have Cylons(albeit the basic toaster models), sort of space ships..but no Tricia Helfer is a big problem! Especially since they have replaced her as eye candy with a couple of quite strange looking under age school girls and the hooker that used to be in Deadwood. But, the pilot was pretty good(certainly better than V) so I'll keep watching.

Yeah it could be her mother. I mean, if she was a Cylon, Im sure Cavill and the others would have known about her..but, you never know...

I'm with you Ror01

I dug the pilot, and I'll keep watching.

Maybe Kat isn't a Cylon, but a form of whatever Starbuck wound up being.

@LC..sorry missed that..um, thanks!

@Billy. Yeah, what the hell was Starbuck anyway. An Angel? Not buying it. I think she was herself..but kinda like Gandalf from LOTR..sent back until her mission was done.

@Bropous, yeah you might have mentioned that before once or twice! I too remember the original series..it was entertaining in a cheesy, kitch, bollocks kind of way. I prefer a bit more meat on my Sci Fi bones..but like you say, each to their own.

The Last 3 or 4 episodes of the series kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. They were OK, but didn't do the series justice. That finale was a major bummer. Still haven't see "The Plan" but I've heard great things.

LOST is coming soon, I can't wait for that finish. They better come correct! But I've got a good feeling they will.

I loved BSG but for some reason I'm just not interested in Caprica. Not sure why. Guess I should watch the pilot, maybe it will change my mind.

Yeah I agree the last 3-4 episodes weren't that great. But the series itself was awesome. I really enjoyed the socio-political and religious themes that the writers really showcased. I loved the old series...but it always seemed weird to me that there wasn't any despair or fear among the crew. They're constantly being dogged by killer robots bent on their total destruction and yet everyone seemed to be at ease. For all it's buck rogers robot fun, that always bothered me even at a young age. I thought the new series really tapped into that realistic vein well.
I'm not detracting from the original, it was created to be mostly an escapist program and it did that well( I loved star buck's humor)but I like my modern science fiction to be more gritty and to tackle deeper themes and hot button issues. But that's just me.

Very well put. I thought the series as a whole was just incredible. Which is why I was disappointed in the final few. Not enough to detract from the the entire body of work, but it did leave me a bit "put-off" I guess.

So you dislike the whole series because of a few bad episodes at the end bropous? I mean yeah the ending was bad, but you admitted the ending of the original was bad too but you still enjoyed that. If you're not into social commentary I can understand that, but saying the series was bad right from the opening credits seems a bit harsh.
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 12/8/2009, 2:41 PM
yeah, it really is. I get why it can be a turn off, the social issues were a little overbearing at times, but I really like my scifi to try and say something about society. I really enjoyed the mirror that the writers were really trying to put in front of society, and the conclusion aside, I enjoyed it. I know a number of people who share your opinions, so I get where you're coming from. It's certainly not everyone's cup of tea.

But even at that, a dislike for the themes and set up and choice of percussion instrument used to accompany the space battles! There is no arguing the excellence of the performances and plot lines(whether initially interesting to you or not, if you had watched the entire run you would have seen some incredibly intricate structures and character beats). Ni likable characters? Well, I strongly disagree. There were no one dimensional "heroes" granted but there were very well rounded and in some cases amazingly crafted personalities. They were human(or not in some cases) and acted how humans act in those situations. Again, even at that, how could you call the likes of Apollo, Chief Tyrol or Helo anything but likable?

I think the best was Edward James Olmos. He was amazing, infact he really made the show for me, but that may be because he's up there as one of my favorite actors of all time.
BillyBlack
BillyBlack - 12/8/2009, 4:53 PM
Let's not forget Gyus(sp?) Baltar. He may have been unlikable from the start, and had little to no redeeming qualities to him, but he was an amazingly slimey and self serving scumbag who was played to perfection. And that was something the show really played off of quite well. The ultimate mutha fka you love to hate. If that isn't a necessary component to balance your overall story, then THAT's a story I'd have no interest in.

But without actually watching the show, you'd never see characters develop, and struggle, like Gaeta. It's not of everyone, but it sure was for me. Except those last few eps, I'm afraid :(

Billy, youv probably noticed that im not quick to comment on the finale! lol. To be honest, as disappointing as it was, I still din't hate it..and some parts I loved(Roslins death would bring a tear to a glass eye). Yeah the major arc and Starbuck disappearance stuff was not handles well..but I think they just wrote themselves into a corner. Like you, it doesn't taint the show in any way. And also like you, I hope to Hell Lost ends better!
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 12/8/2009, 6:05 PM
Baltar was awesome. And I agree i hope Lost doesn't have a wtf!? ending. There's a distinct difference between bing pcryptic and just plain bad writing.

This is going to be the best thing coming out of the Watchmen film because Snyder will actually be able SY0-201 to live up to his word of absolute novel to film translation.iseb certification I am actually looking forward to this since it is too easy for anyone to screw up. ccna dumps I still think the live-action film is going to be trash due to lack of squid. ccnp Inclusion of Black Freighter's accuracy will make the film look bad.
