When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Awesome, for a while i thought that the soldiers were piloting the robots from remote locations, hooked up to computers. That would make too much sense though, not putting their lives at risk. :-)

That 4 minute featurette was better than all of Iron Man 3.

@113

*sigh* the article has nothing to do with IM3.

I'm really sick of people trashing IM3 in articles THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DAMN MOVIE -.-

@Ataraxis, but you're assuming that's a possibility within the movie. Maybe they can't control it remotely and they have to physically operate it. I mean, we've seen that n the trailers and the featurettes. They physically have to pilot it like an automobile or something. I think you may be projecting more advanced technology into this universe than actually exists.

And it's war. Of course people's lives are going to be in danger. How do you fight a war without risking anyone's life?

This movie is about danger and peril caused by these monsters attacking Earth. You would lose any sense of danger if the characters were piloting remotely and not actually in the thick of it.

This is really really great! Love that he did quite some practical for a movie like this. Very excited to see one of the cities they've built to get blown to hell!!! >:)

Looking forward to this! Definitely am going to see this in IMAX !!!

Would be fantastic if the sequel would be shot with the new Dragon sensor of the RED EPIC camera's and maybe some of the new digital IMAX ones as well :D
