Six Battle: Los Angeles Featurettes: Truth or Fiction?

What's the real story behind "The Battle of Los Angeles" that inspired the movie? Check out these featurettes to find out!

Written by Christopher Bertolini (The General's Daughter) and directed by Jonathan Liebesman (The Killing Room), Battle: Los Angeles is inspired by the 1942 "attack" on Los Angeles that has become known as "The Battle of Los Angeles," an incident which involved the U.S. military strafing the skies over L.A. with anti-aircraft fire for more than an hour without ever hitting any targets. At the time, the U.S. military thought we were being invaded by the Japanese. Today, the incident has been ruled a "false alarm" triggered by "war nerves," but many believe that the military was shooting at a UFO or multiple UFOs (and a photo that ran in the L.A. Times appears to show spotlights focusing on a flying saucer).

Check out these featurettes from Reelz Channel to separate the truth from fiction...

Battle: Los Angeles stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Bridget Moynahan, Lucas Till, and singer-turned-actor Ne-Yo.

Battle: Los Angeles opens March 11th!

I did Brent@!

I had a very old relative who was there
back in the 40's. She said they could
look up in the sky and sort of see some
kind of oval-shaped thing in all the
spotlights and it was moving a little
but making no sound. She said she got a
strange feeling, "SOMEONE" was there!

She told me this cuz I asked her about
it after I studied it for the first time.

It took everything they shot at it and was
still there just hovering according to most
accounts! It was huge!

I do believe it was something not of this
earth!

Here is a real picture from back then. It
was shot for the newspaper and was in the
newspaper the next day with a bunch of
testimonies! Notice all the analyzed shots.
There was REALLY "something" there!

FALSE ALARM MY ASS!!!
LOL

@satanors, who said anything about them being aliens. Could have easily been a man-made craft.

Some of the speakers are interesting, some are lying, and some are kooks.

What sucks is that there is a spoiler in the first clip.

Many stories start as a What if? scenario. Who cares if someone took something like this and said hey what if they were aliens and we had to fight them. Looks like its going to be a pretty good flick.

So, does this mean that the movie is not a CBM? I thought for sure that it was.

@DDD: Thanks for adding that content. My friend's uncle was in LA during the "incident" and had a hard time explaining exactly what he saw, but he was pretty sure it wasn't man-made.

@Rodimus9: Nope, not viral. This is a real story from waaaay back. Look it up.

@satanors: Just demons, right?

You're welcome BRENT@!

A lot of people saw it and had a hard time
explaining what they saw. What is missing
in the B&W photo is the color of the object.
Everyone said it had an orange tinge to it
in contrast to the white of the spotlights.

SATANORS@ I didn't say aliens are amongst us,
only in the sky that night in L.A. during
WWII. I didn't make this up! It's REAL! It
was REAL enough to everyone back then cuz
they shot the sh!t out of it! Nothing fazed
it and it just slowly traveled away, off into
the night sky.

BRENT@..."DEMONS"...LMAO!!!

FLAMES@ that's a good question!

"Why do they only come in time of war?"

So, they know the highest level of our defenses. If they put on a pretty light show when no one cares they will not get an adequate run down of our defenses and tactics.

there's a story i had in mind that i would love to see become a movie...

"what if ufo/aliens are not really what we thought they were. what if they are mutated humans caused by time travel or humans migrating to other planet because earth is decaying. deformed humans in far future with super advanced technology has to travel back in time to know more about human history. a history they have lost. they watched over humans in the past to know what happened to earth and how technology progressed. we call then aliens when they are really our future."

hehe

The event did happen, but that's it. The US fired at something for a few hours. The end.

@parascythe- I think that has been done, i'll have to rack my brain for a while, but I am 80% sure that story has been done. Preliminarily I am thinking Twilight Zone, possibly the modern Outer Limits.
