Roberto Orci ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2"), who has never directed a can of corn let alone a feature film was given the reins on the next installment of the Star Trek film franchise that J.J. Abrams ("Star Wars VII") nurtured for the past two films. In July, Orci gave fans pause as he revealed that Paramount hadn't given a greenlight to the project because not even the first draft was completed. But a few days ago, Orci dropped by trekmovie.com and left two messages confirming the first draft was completed. His first post, "p & m & I wrote, "fade out" yesterday on first draft. things are moving." The "P" and the "M" are referring to his two fellow screenwriters Patrick McKay and JD Payne. Orci's second message clarified any confusion by stating, "First draft is done."

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organisation has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS was directed by J.J. Abrams ("Super 8"), from a screenplay written by Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Returning for the sequel are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Zoë Saldana, and Anton Yelchin. Joined by new cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Now available at your local Blockbuster.

I kinda wish they had kept let Khan escape, and gave Star Trek their type of Vadar in which a villain recurs over a few movies. Plus Benedict was just awesome.

However, that being said, seeing as they ain't doing that I hope we get an original villain. Oh and I want the Enterprise to not get owned so much in this one. Show off what it can do,.

If they do go for reusing an old villain, I would love to see them handle the Borg, well, Kirk's way of handling the Borg.

In Hollywood the only thing that matters liberal ideology. It doesn't matter if you have no talent. And so people like Rattner, Orci, Affleck, Shane Black, Singer, Clooney, Schumacher can suck but still have careers.

I'm a trekkie and all I have to say they better remember thier roots. They have a good cast wasted on the Into Darkness mess. This one better be good or I'm done with it.

@MrFridayNights,

I think we have reached the point in the history of society when most understand how entirely distasteful it is to call anyone a "faggot." That word, much like the "n-word" is a sign of oppression and prejudice, and it would be much appreciated if you would refrain from using such language on this website. Whether you realize it or not, there are many LGBTQ comic fans, and you represent the community of superhero fans poorly when you stoop to using such epithets.

I'm excited as well, if the Russos could have a career shift then so can Orci.

@ChrisEl
We're past the days where faggot was solely a derogatory term referring to homosexuals.

@batz11 Star Trek should be nothing at all like Star Wars or GotG. The theme of Star Trek is exploring space and seeing different societies interacting.

His writing is so lazy. Things just happen because the script needs it to happen. Red Matter, magic blood, and other such foolish plot devices that have no logic is just insulting to it's audience.
