Simon Pegg Says He Knows The Story For STAR TREK 2; Says He Hasn't Heard Any Mention Of Khan

While doing press for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Simon Pegg was asked about the sequel to Star Trek where he said he knew the story of the film and said that he has not heard the name Khan come up.

MTV sat down with Simon Pegg for an interview about Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. During the sit down they asked him about his involvement with J.J. Abrams upcoming sequel to 2009's Star Trek. Pegg said he know what the general story is for the film, and says that he hasn't heard the name Khan appear anywhere.

On Peter Weller and Alice Eve joining the cast:

"Very excited to work with Robocop, and Alice I have worked with before and she is an absolute gorgeous girl."

On who Weller and Eve are playing:

"I don't know, I honestly don't. I know there is a large group sex scene with Scotty and some green chicks. That's all I know, which was my condition for doing the film."

On if he has read the story and if its good:

"Yes I have(read the story), and of course it's good."

On if Khan's name appears in the story:

"I honestly don't know that, and that's not be defusing the question. I haven't heard the name Khan come up. That's not to say that it wont come up, but I have heard no mention of the name."

On the character of Khan:

"He is a great villain. I don't want to say too much just in case he is in the film, then I have to eat my words as I often have to do. We've seen Khan, Ricardo Montalbán's Khan, and how much value there is in seeing him again I don't know."

Now this doesn't completely rule out that Khan will be in the film. As Pegg said it just because he hasn't seen his name in the story doesn't mean that he won't make an appearance. Leave your comments in the comment boxes on if you think Khan will in fact show up in the film. Star Trek 2 will be released on May 17, 2013.

Weller's my primary reason to watch this film. I can't wait to see what he'll bring to it!

EVERY CHARACTER AND VILLAIN THAT HAS APPEARED IN THE PAST FILMS CAN BE REVISITED BUT DONE IN A NEW DIRECTION..THIS IS DUE TO THE GENIUS IDEA OF AN ALTERNATE PATH OF ALL CHARACTERS BECAUSE OF THE MESSING WITH TIME DEAL IN THE FIRST..GENIUS.

I think Pegg is purposefully trolling everyone.

I think they're focusing on the Klingons for this film. They should save Khan for the third one anyway.

@grif

That's because he's NOT playing the original Scotty you fcuking twit....having difficulty wrapping your infantile brain around the concept of an "alternate timeline" are we??? Guess that explains why you can't usually manage more than, "looks sh!t"...

i agree that his scotty wasn't very scottyish, but i think sulu was farther off base.

that said, i don't care because i liked their characters better this way.

@NoRegrets: Khan was NEVER in Enterprise. He was in "Space Seed" from TOS and Star Trek II.

It won't be Khan. Not this time, if ever.

"SImon Pegg jokes that there will be alien sex in the next Star Trek."

Who said he was joking? There was in the first one. And it IS an interplanetary sci-fi story, why not alien sex? It's only normal.

That he would be involved in that scene, an orgy nonetheless, now that might be a joke. Though it would be fun if it wasn't.

I love Pegg.
And I also love grif.

I hope they don't use Kahn. He was an iconic villain for the original series. The new movies came up with a good excuse for re-booting the series and it should go in a new direction. Some small references to the old series would be fine, but make the stories new. Don't rehash or re-make the old stories.

No Khan. Please god don't rehash Khan.

There are plenty of other villains in the Star Trek universe. Rehashing Khan makes no sense because people will just keep comparing it Wrath of Khan. How about something new? Something different?

That concept certainly worked for the last film, no?

I think they need to keep the alien species congruent to TOS. No Borg or Cardassians.

NoRegrets, Kahn wasn't one of the Augments in Enterprise. The Augments were leftovers from the Eugenics wars. Kahn was created and fought in the Eugenics wars, long before Enterprise.

References are made to the SS Botany Bay and Khan Noonien Singh, which, in the timeline of the Star Trek universe, would later be encountered by Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 in the Star Trek episode "Space Seed".
