In a recent interview, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kenedy revealed how Harrison Ford helped actor Alden Ehrenreich prepare to take on the role of a young Han Solo in the upcoming film Solo: A Star Wars Story:

"What (Ford) did so beautifully for Alden was he talked a lot about what he remembered when he first read Star Wars, and what George had done with Han.  Who the character was and the conversations he had for so many years with George about how that character developed. He gave Alden that kind of insight which was invaluable. There were several times in the course of making the movie where Alden would actually recount some of the things that Harrison had pointed out. I thing that was really, really helpful to him."

Ron Howard, who took over the directing duties after Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired partway into production, called Ford for advice on what direction he thought the movie should go:

"Harrison's a very thoughtful actor and an artist, and I wanted to know what he learned about the character. He said that Han is always torn between that sense that he was, in a way, an orphan, and therefore both yearned for connection with people and struggled with it at the same time. I thought that was pretty interesting."

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters May 25th, 2018.

Harrison Ford: ask for a shitload of money, pretend that you care and then move the [frick] on.

The end.

Wow. i never figured Ford for caring that much about the character. That’s pretty cool if it’s true. i don’t envy ehrenreich’s job or the inevitable shitstorm of fans attacking him, but i have a feeling he’s going to surprise people. He was fantastic in Hail, Caesar!

So far I’m actually impressed by what we’ve seen in the trailer, I do think Alden is the low point though. He’s fine but just doesn’t have the charisma of Han but here’s hoping. To be fair he was pretty calm and collected before meeting Luke and Leia from what we’ve seen in Episode 4 but I just think he should be a bit more charming

This is tough to believe considering his feelings towards SW.

@auditore - still a bit surprising. Idk he seems very indifferent to it all since he disnt get his death wish when he wanted it.

Even then in interviews and the like he's so passive about the world and the fans.

BREAKING NEWS Harrison Ford gives a damn about something

At the time when he asked Lucas to kill Han, George knew that the character had so much to offer in the long run. Particulary in the EU.

What I don't know is if Harrison was already tired of the fans at the time.
