PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, from a script written by Travis Beacham. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke. Now available on DVD & Blu-ray!

Those are the WORST Australian accents i've ever heard....

Why didn't GDT just get Australian actors?

These accents were disgusting, completely dropped me out of the environment GDT was presenting.

@ckal

That's a really odd scene that doesn't seem to fit with any of their other interactions in the movie. Good cut.

How do you mean?

His son was acting like a prima donna throughout the entire film and his dad finally called him on it. He was written to be a cocky jerk. It wasn't even subtle. He was a bully.

I'd say not only did the scene fit, it answered a question I literally (honestly I did) asked myself while watching this film: Why is his dad coddling and making excuses for his arrogant sons behavior instead of telling him to stop acting like a tool?

It fits perfectly in my mind. It even explains WHY he behaved that way (his dad wasn't around when he was younger) and almost makes you sort of open up to the character.

Shame it was cut.

This film could have used some real character development (among other things), but whatever, at least the monsters and robots were fun to look at.

Manga is stupid. Don't support Japan failing at making comics. If Manga was so great it would be called MARVEL!
