After 2009's Terminator Salvation starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington recieved fairly mixed reviews, it looks like the powers that be are planning on returning the franchise to its former glory by bringing back Arold Schwarzenegger! Here is an excerpt of the report from Deadline which confirms that Arnie will indeed be returning in possibly his most iconic role.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is attached to star in a rights package that CAA is shopping today that will revive The Terminator, one of Hollywood's most iconic science fiction franchises. The agency is dropping the package on studios this afternoon. There is no screenwriter attached at this point, and Robert Cort is producing.

And it also looks like Fast Five director Justin Lin will indeed direct the movie as was previously rumoured.

Given the strong international grosses being racked up by Fast Five and the expectations for a strong domestic opening this Friday, Lin has a lot of heat.

i agree that they will CGI the EFF out of him to make him look young. the story thou, i wonder how it would go, in the future pre-war, post-war, or maybe some timeline of when the machines attack an how John Conner re-programs Arnold to help him. That dont sound bad, you guys think Bale and Arnold can co-exist in a sequel like that?

Ok, this has gone beyond a joke. Yet ANOTHER Terminator movie? I mean Salvation wasn't great but for [frick]'s sake just continue the damn story!

And Arnie? Please. Look no disrespect, but unless he has a cameo as the designer of the cyborg or something I won't even rent this [frick]ing movie. It's also nice to see that they are taking things seriously by hiring the director of, eh, Fast Five. I smell a turd already.

Of course, I HOPE I'm wrong:)

it would be intersting to see if they would take it going forward from the last one or just go to another time travel one. i personally think they need to move on from the time travel and make a movie taking place around the time where john captures arnold and sends him back for T2 would work fine. bridge the gap between both movies

CGI to make him look younger...they did it with jeff bridges for tron...they can do the same for AHNOLD.....this could be awesome!!

Yes, yes, yes...YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!

This has needed to happen. I like Worthington, and I like Bale, but I did NOT like anything except the last few minutes of Salvation. (Even though he was just tossing around, it was pretty [frick]in cool to see Sam Worthington hand-to-hand with a Terminator)

I'm going to call it now...setting aside script and direction, Arnold CAN and WILL get back into shape.

If Stallone can do it as with the Expendables, Arnold can damn sure do it. Being a body builder, even having let himself go, with the muscle memory he has once he gets the right diet and hits the gym it'll be game over.

Make it like T2 and Arnold's age will have ZERO effect!

1 and 2 were awesome, 3 was beyong horrible, salvation was pretty good and i enjoyed the tone difference... but its sounding like this one will not be so good. fast five director??? i also agree, he should cameo as the designer or person whom the machine resemblance is based off of... he is not a great actor. i hope im not warfrost or wtf ever
