There Can Be Only...NONE?! Now Ryan Reynolds Departs HIGHLANDER Remake
Last November, director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) decided to walk away from Highlander after clashing with Summit Entertainment, and now leading man Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern) has also departed the project.
The Wrap reveals that Ryan Reynolds has exited Summit Entertainment's planned reboot of Highlander. When Juan Carlos Fresnadillo decided to no longer helm the movie late last year due to creative differences, it was thought that the studio would quickly find a replacement for him. That has obviously not been the case. However, the site goes on to state that: "Reynolds' exit may actually prove beneficial for the project, as a new director will be able to cast a new leading man rather than inherit a previous filmmaker's decision." Reynolds would have played 'Connor MacLeod'; the sword wielding immortal Scot originally brought to the big screen by Christopher Lambert. Be sure to stay tuned to CBM for any further updates on this project.
