There Can Be Only...NONE?! Now Ryan Reynolds Departs HIGHLANDER Remake

Last November, director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) decided to walk away from Highlander after clashing with Summit Entertainment, and now leading man Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern) has also departed the project.

The Wrap reveals that Ryan Reynolds has exited Summit Entertainment's planned reboot of Highlander. When Juan Carlos Fresnadillo decided to no longer helm the movie late last year due to creative differences, it was thought that the studio would quickly find a replacement for him. That has obviously not been the case. However, the site goes on to state that: "Reynolds' exit may actually prove beneficial for the project, as a new director will be able to cast a new leading man rather than inherit a previous filmmaker's decision." Reynolds would have played 'Connor MacLeod'; the sword wielding immortal Scot originally brought to the big screen by Christopher Lambert. Be sure to stay tuned to CBM for any further updates on this project.

There's been a couple of reports that WB was going to maybe be asking Reynolds to come back due to popularity with his recent films and their relationship with him, so this may be why he exited while he could? (Personally, I hope so!)

No, Reynolds said he's not interested in being the JL GL.
Besides, he's proving to be a box office drag.
Just about every movie he's been in since Wolverine has bombed.

Good let us be done with this whole remake. One less waste of money on an unneeded or wanted movie. The 1st one was fine.

As GreenHalJordan just posted - perhaps Reynolds is reprising his role as Green Lantern Hal Jordan. I personally don't think Reynolds was the problem with GL. I liked him, Sinestro & the suits - everything else was the problem. I personally think GL should be the easiest hero for DC to bring to the screen vs. Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman or Manhunter. GL has so many stories, it still baffles me how they messed it up. Anyhow I would not mind Reynolds back as GL either in a reboot or JL.

Stick with Bromatic comedy film Reynolds where you can actually succeed at and something close homies can cuddle to and laugh when they're either drunk or high on Friday nights.

how bout instead of a remake, they put a few million into buying up any old copies of parts 2-4, and we can all try to forget they ever happened (well, except for the directors cut of part 2, that waqs pretty cool)
