TRANSCENDENCE Writer To Pen PROMETHEUS 2; Ridley Scott Not Confirmed To Direct

Last year, Prometheus divided audiences and critics alike, but at least some of you will be excited by the news that the sequel is now moving forward at Fox with Transcendence writer Jack Palgen now attached to pen the script. Read on for details!

Variety reports that Jack Palgen is nearing a deal to pen the screenplay for Prometheus 2. He recently wrote Wally Pfister and Johnny Depp’s sci-fi thriller Transcendence, and this is obviously yet another high profile project for the screenwriter. However, while Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are expected to return, there's currently no word on whether Sir Ridley Scott will helm the follow-up. He will however produce it through his Scott Free banner. The first instalment made over $400 million worldwide. Hpw do you guys feel about this news?

Ridley may have lost the magic touch. It was still a visual spectacle, but completely brainless...

I heard a rumor that the Engineers created Jesus a human/alien hybrid and sent him to Earth to teach humans compassion and tolerance.

The humans crucified him and pissed of the Engineers which is why they were going to attack Earth.

Part of the basis for this theory were the fact that it was Christmas time and they dated the dead Engineers' decapitated head at approx 2000 years old.

Why not do another Alien to Aliens and have James Cameron come and do the sequel.

It's thought that perhaps Scott was concerned how any Christian themes of references would impact the success of a major Hollywood movie.

But then again, MoS kind of disproved that notion, lol.

Unproven talent is better at this point than known shit writing. I'm actually a fan of Lindelof. I think Jon Spaights or whatever is responsible for most of the shittyness of Prometheus.

Anyway, if Pfister trusts this new screenwriter, with people like Kate Mara and Rebecca Hall signed on...I think he's pretty talented

There going to have to make this film a dual narrative, cant see a movie with just Shaw, David and the engineers. Have a recovery team or spy ship go to LV-223 to investigate the events on the planet, have them engage the hybrid alien we saw at the end of the first film which is apparently intelligent. At the same time show us Shaw's and David's journey on "Paradise"

The good news about a Prometheus sequel is that it has nowhere to go but up. It would be impossible for it to be any more nonsensical, and just flat out illogical than the first one was. Ive never seen a movie that was just one massive plot hole until I saw Prometheus. Seriously, the hits just kept coming in that movie. Ive never been more pissed off coming out of a theater. It was just so...dumb on so many levels. Sure it looked great, and it had a pretty good score, but not one frickin thing about it made any sense. Any time I hear people defend that movie, I just think that they must be related to someone who was part of the production.

Movies.com: You throw religion and spirituality into the equation for Prometheus, though, and it almost acts as a hand grenade. We had heard it was scripted that the Engineers were targeting our planet for destruction because we had crucified one of their representatives, and that Jesus Christ might have been an alien. Was that ever considered?

Ridley Scott: We definitely did, and then we thought it was a little too on the nose. But if you look at it as an “our children are misbehaving down there” scenario, there are moments where it looks like we’ve gone out of control, running around with armor and skirts, which of course would be the Roman Empire. And they were given a long run. A thousand years before their disintegration actually started to happen. And you can say, “Lets’ send down one more of our emissaries to see if he can stop it. Guess what? They crucified him."

[Frick] the haters!! Bring on Prometheus 2!! I bought the Blu-Ray DVD with special features including deleted scenes and although some questions were left unanswered it kinda cleared up the fuzz from just what ticked off the engineers when they...

(SPOILER ALERT) Ripped David's head off. (End of Spoiler)

Plus there were many more great scenes as well which I will not reveal.

People complaining about "Prometheus not answering questions are just following along with the crowd."

It's a biased point because you don't always have to answer all questions within one film.

That's like me asking "What is Thanos planning to do to the Avengers?" After seeing the end credits to the film.

Sequels are meant to add more girth to a story that can't just be simply told within one film.

Like I said before and I'll continue to say it again...

PROTHEUS WAS A GOOD FILM [FRICK] THE HATERS!! BRING ON NUM. 2!!!!!!!!

@DioFoRio

Spaihts script was good and better than the one we saw in Prometheus however it also had a lot of problems and was basically just a carbon copy of the first Alien film.
